Pretty sure your i5 isn't helping either. If you want a worthwhile upgrade get a 4770/4770k/4790/4790k and at least a 1070. It's the cheaper route.

Yes it´s worth it.....GTX 1060 6 Gb is at least 50% faster card then GTX 1050 TI...now yours I5-4440 is still OK to push 1060 it could maybe choke just a bit but if you want to go with some better GPU then this CPU will start to bottleneck severely,You can also OC a bit that I5 and improve his IPC.....GL

the 4440 isn't that bad but he better upgrade. , his monitor is 768p , very easy resolution.

The 1060 is 50% faster than the 1050 TI ?! , c'mon man this is too much , it's probably 20-30% faster , and yeah if he gets an even better that i5 would be an issue , and btw he can't OC on that board (maybe with a BIOS update) as u suggested , his i5 is non K too.

I was even 2 kind to the GTX 1050 TI
Here this is official 3DMark Firestrike Graphics score:

and here some comparison between these 2 cards.....clearly sometimes the difference could be way bigger then 50 %

I'd do it, particularly if you are able to sell your 1050 Ti to recoup some costs.

You'd certainly be better off with a CPU that had more threads but I wouldn't avoid upgrading the video card because of that. 4 thread i5 + a 1060 / rx 480 level card is a very common combo.

CPU can feed a 1060 just fine, although you might not reach high refresh rates like 144 consistently - and the 1060 6GB is slightly over double the speed

1050 ti is around GTX 770 level. I went from a 770 to a 1060 6GB this year and it made a large difference. I can run pretty much anything 1440P @ 60Hz without frame rate hickups and decent high settings. However, it is late in the cycle to be buying a 1060 might want to see if a 2060 or 2050ti drops soon.

Its worth upgrading from a 1050ti, 1050ti is really a budget card and was sadly the only affordable card for a long time due to the crypto madness.

If it was me i would upgrade to an i7 (4770) on the same board , and upgrade RAM to 16 gigs , and save up for at least a 1070.

Nah the 1050ti is pretty slow for modern standards. Theres no reason to upgrade the rest of the system before upgrading the 1050ti first, the problem is the 1050ti. Granted going to 16GB of ram would be worthwhile but it isn't money as well spent as going with a better card. The problem is the 1060 6GB is 2 years old now and there are new cards on the horizon.

As you can see here, the 1060 is about 60% faster in gaming. And if you were playing at 1080p, it would have quite an impact ... however you are playing with a 1366 x 768 60 hz monitor so you will see about twice the fps as you would at 1080p. So, you could expect 120 fps in for example GTAV but won't benefit you w/ a 60 fps monitor. Witcher 3 again > 60 fps, Rise of the Tomb Raider, again already over 60 fps. Deus X, Mankind Divided should be just under 60 fps, doubt you'd notice the difference.

So yes, while the 1060 is a significant leap from the 1050 Ti, ..... at your resolution / refresh rate, I just don't see that there's any big gains to be made .... at least if your card is performing as it should be. Start here and lets us know how you compare with the 1080p numbers starting at this link:

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_1050_Ti_Strix_OC/6.html

I'd expect a decent AIB 1050 Ti overclocked should be able to get close to twice the 1080 numbers shown in those charts
