Is My Radeo x1800gto missing clock memory mhz?

I don't know a lot about video cards so I might just be confused on this one. I recently bougt the connect34 Radeon x1800gto card. I bought it from here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814142067

On this page it says the memory runs at 1000mhz but when I look in the Catalyst program, by default the core clock and memory clock run at only 500mhz. I'm not sure why this is happening so if anyone could fill me in i'd appreciate it.

p.s. also - what is a good safe temp for this card to run at. When i overclocked these clock speeds to about 550mhz, my card was at like 68 C and i thought that was way too high. Thanks

The memory runs Double Data Rate, so it says 500MHZ, but it's really running 1000MHZ. 68*C is fine, the fan dosen't even kick on high until 70*C.
