Chop the SSD off if you need to, that is the most painless cut

Also, depending on your video editing skills and requirements you will need far more than 2TB.

You will CHEW APART that HDD if you are going to be doing a lot of video editing. I would recommend getting a 3-4 TB if you are going to be capturing raw and saving the edits and raws for long videos.

Come on by TPU's resident A/V club if you start learning some real tricks and share your success!

::EDIT:: just reinforcing Forestaff's great comments. Video editing + SSD = uselessly expensive.

He can always add HDD space later as needed, no need to drop an extra 75-100 on a larger HDD at the moment.

I assume the SSD is for the OS install?

Green are great for storage, but bless them they fail quite often when under the kind of stress video editing can make with all of the cached and temporary files.

Seagate would have the better option between the two.

get rid of the SSD and buy yourself a NAS to store all of your video files. or buy one of the mac thunderbolt external 4 bay storage units. they are FANTASTIC for video editing.

Keep in mind that Windows 7 Home Premium has a 16 Gb ram max

The only other cuts for budget
Look at ASRock boards
CPU
PSU even though the SeaSonic 660W Gold X-Series is a great PSU you could get a Corsair for less

Animation????

Step 1: Get a decent entry level Wacom with the option for wireless support.
Step 2: Get her the best amateur anime software available
Step 3: Meet minimum system requirements and give her a NAS for storage.

She'll be able to use most budget machines for getting started and even doing a lot of advanced work.

If you are only doing simple stuff then any computer would do. Drawing surface like the Wacom Binge recommended is the important thing here.

what kind of things can the green store and what can it not ?
i dont need more than a 1tb hdd so would getting a caviar blue be a better choice than a
Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200RPM 64MB Sata III ST1000DM003??

whats the difference bettween seagate an western digital??
