Is this laptop overkill?

You say you avoid Lenovo like the plague, but then say Thinkpads are different. No they aren't. They are made by Lenovo and Lenovo pre-installed spyware on Thinkpads too. But don't take my word on it. See Lenovo Caught (3rd Time) Pre-Installing Spyware on its Laptops and note where it says,

heh, that maybe, but we get our own OSes after it gets wiped clean. and a simple fresh install of windows takes care of that.

also, did you notice your article is 7years old?

I sure did. That's why I included a more recent one too. Point being, it was not just one incident - which could be totally excusable and forgiven - "IF" it stopped there. But it didn't. :(

There were many recurring incidents over an extended period of years with different models of computers and different types of imbedded malware. Malware imbedded that had the clear intent of malicious spying, compromised security, and the forced pushing of adware being perpetrated on us consumers.

These are not my accusations. Google "Lenovo malware" and see for yourself. See where major governments have banned their products. See where Lenovo admitted guilt. See where they claimed they would stop only to do it again, and again, and again.

If you wish to trust Lenovo, that's your business. But if anyone violates my trust over and over and over again, and they have demonstrated zero intent to change their ways, I see no reason to start trusting them now.

I will admit that it is likely the Chinese government is behind it all. But it clearly appears Lenovo, the company, is doing little to nothing about it.

Now please don't argue with me about this. I am only informing readers of facts they may not be aware of - facts you can easily verify yourself.

Time to get back on topic.
