Is this where CPUs is the primary focus ?

So, to be clear I have heard RUMORS that the forum has 90 days.
Rumour or not, I've seen it too many times before where the owners say that the forums aren't going anywhere but they're an expense without any real return so they eventually get canned on short notice. Take snapshots and archives if you have access because when the time comes you can be pretty certain that nobody will be given adequate notice :\

I've jumped ship multiple times now; Sharky, Tom's, Anand, Techreport, Of those, Tom's is still standing but it got so close to death at one point that I think everyone who actually cared had already moved on by the time it started to turn things around.

I'm always so unsure where to put cpu-based threads. "Maybe overclocking and cooling, no system builders advice, maybe general hardware?"

CPU forum was mentioned previously and w1zzard's response was

Kinda general hardware or overclocking. Considering that you're the first person bringing this up in 20 years not sure if it's such a big issue. It has never been my policy to create as many subforums as possible

New user, coming from Anandtech.com. Is there a forum where CPUs is the primary focus ? or is this forum it ?
Hi Mark, good to see you. Sad that your old tech site is dying.

Is the TAAT folding team going to continue or are you guys up for joining new teams?

everything is up in the air at the moment. Not sure what we are going to do and if the forums will even be around.

So, to be clear I have heard RUMORS that the forum has 90 days. Other rumors say they will stay indefinity. I am just trying to find a place that is like MY CPU forum where its all about different CPUs, AMD, Intel, Apple, etc...Including server CPUs. We have a general hardware forum also that covers everything but. We have a video form for video cards. You could look yourself, but I like the way its divided up. So, nothing is definite yet. Also, we have a distributed computing forum which the other area I am dedicated to. I lost my bladder, prostate, my hearing and balance to cancer. So I spend a lot of effort to support cancer research.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I used to visit AT forums some 15 years ago and still did sporadically, but the main website was bookmarked for me till yesterday and i'd visit every few days in the hope they have a new deep dive or something. Really sad to see them go, but you are most welcome here. I believe this sub forum is the closest to being CPU specific but a lot of the discussions are also in the front page news section as well as overclocking and cooling.

Browse around and you'll get a hang of it pretty quickly i'm sure.

Well if TAAT should disband, you're surely going to be an M.V.P. Rookie for any team you join. @phill could really use you here at TPU, but I'll always be happy to have you again at EHW.

Sorry for taking your topic off track, but I know you were only wanting to show off them EPYCs :D

In addition to the 4 9554's, I have a retail 9654, and a dual 7V12 Rome, and a Dual 7763 Milan, and a 7742 Rome, and a 7542 Rome and I probably forgot one. I have a 64 core Turin, but no motherboard will boot it yet. I may have to return it.

And video cards, I have 5 4090's, and 3 4080's and 2 3090TI's and 3 3080TI, and this list goes on.

Now to be honest, I don't have enough power to turn them all on, so I usually only have the 5 Genoas, and 4 4090's powered on.

I agree - though I go back further to 20 - 25 years when you actually had to cut traces (with no schematic to know which one) and run jumpers, instantly voiding warranties, and potentially bricking boards and toasting CPUs.

Today, you click a box or slide a slider in a menu. What's the challenge? Oh well.
Athlon XP bridging to make an Athlon XP-M MP lol.

They have a good crew here. And most importantly - no Corpo overlords :rockout:If the AT forums do get shutdown or worse yet, merged with Tom's, this is where some of us plan to call home. You'd be a big boost to their DC team here. Easy to help support TPU by patronizing the sponsors. I am not certain if they have a Patreon here or anything like that? Affiliate links?

Even if AT forums do stay open you should hang here too. Good vibes, unlike some other forums I have visited.

Have you explained that I used to be the CPU moderator there, and now you are ? We definitely have that in common. We can vouch for each other.

I have not, as it means precisely dick to anyone here. :D Build your rep by participating and helping others just as you have always done. But yeah, I think they will see you are value added to this community.

Exactly, it means nothing, respect must be earned, not expected.

I agree. Not to mention that moderators are regular people, just like us. At least I see them as fellow citizens of TPU-ville, not some kind of demigods. Sorry mods, I mean no offense. :ohwell:

Even at work, I don't see my superiors as truly being superior. They're just normal people with a different job role and a bit more money. But that's a different story.
