Issues with Games Windows 11 24H2

@YahyaMegahed
It’s possible. Using them is definitely not a “best practice” generally. Usual advice is to install the most important drivers manually (so GPU, Chipset and possibly Networking) and let the OS itself grab the rest or use its own in-built ones. The issue you’re describing is seemingly driver-related since the NVCP is broken. Wipe the GPU driver via DDU and then install fresh ones either directly via NV runtimes or through NVCleanstall.

The issue with windows 11 24h2 is microsoft removed the old windows 10 taskbar code from operating system so when some older games try and call the game taskbar icon at launch the operating system cant do it anymore. so dont expect a fix from microsoft as they have put the fix back on game devs to update there software.

There's also a fair bit of Rust code that's brand new. So unknown effects there for legacy stuff.

Maybe I'm just lucky that I haven't had any issues with Win11 24H2 with my AMD/NV and Intel/AMD rigs. Works just like any other Win10/11 version since the Win10 release version.

I think i'll just ignore the affected games,
NVCP however i'll wait till the next driver update and do a clean install of it.
And hopefully the monthly driver updates accompanied by windows updates and hotfixes will sort most of the issues or i'll eventually do a clean windows 11 install again.

Well I posted a thread about 24h2 but it has been closed. I like to have a static background on my main PC and I have 2 other PCs running. Of all of them the only one that has a static background is my Gaming PC. For the past 2 mornings I have woken up to a black screen and no mouse movement. At the same time the other 2 PCs never had the same background anymore. Maybe it is something to do with OLED burn in but if you have a static background it obviously can lead to a system hang.

I disconnected PC from internet and did a complete driver uninstall using "DDU" so i was left with "Microsoft Basic Display Driver" which of course won't run games but i tried to launch "Resident Evil 4" and it didn't, so i did a clean install of Nvidia display driver but the problem presisted.
So i think it's some sort of incompatibility issue that i hope it'll be sorted out with the future updates from both Microsoft and Nvidia.

Now, i don't know exactly what happened but "Nvidia Control Panel" launched and worked just fine, didn't have the chance to try with games (which i don't expect any changes) but i'll give them a try and let you know.
I just wanted to say that i changed Regional settings in windows and it may have had something to do with this new development.
Or it may be just my intention to do a clean install of windows that convinced the current windows to fix its issues.

Just gonna ask right here.
So the 24H2 fked my 5yr laptop for good?
All games run on 5fps, audio is broken, every program I try crashes, usbs don't connect properly etc. - yes I tried reinstalling the update and clearing everything I could so now the only way is possibly a clean instal of win 10 from a flash drive.
Any other ideas?

Don't use driver boosters.

nor use any other 3rd party driver updater tools (definitely avoid using such tools that are not free).
download the drivers directly from the manufacturers

I assume you do not have any windows restore points?
There may be guides of reverting windows 11 updates on the internet

-- Windows 10 is most likely obsolete. I would not consider it in the long run.

I think i'll use this windows for a few more days (till i complete the DXHR game, i love it), then make a clean installation, no tools at all (driver updater or tweakers and so on) and hope it will be better this time.

google an app called snappydriver. its an open source collection of drivers dating back to windows xp and its free. its gotten me out of a jam e few times when i couldnt find drivers. use the lite version for a quick find.

It seems to be the last day for this windows.
So, what do you suggest regarding Display Driver,
Let windows setup get it online while installing?
Or download it now from TPU and disable Network adapters before running setup and then installing the driver manually after windows has finished installation?
Thanks everyone.

Reinstalled back to win 10. Fck that version. Never again.
I think it's the best thing you have done,
I re installed Windows 11 24H2 again and still are the same issues with games.
Maybe i'll do a fresh install of windows 10
till they release a new windows version 12 maybe.

The problems the OP is having with 24H2 is more than likely related to app & browser control in the security overview window. Disable it & see if those apps & games will run. I had an issue with it when running a modified version of Karhu RAM test suite & Zen timings app.

Ran 24H2 for a short while on my secondary build (12600K/3070Ti), then rolled back to W10 22H2 this week. It broke too many older games, most with access violation errors on the main executable. I had already been having a similar issue with one game on 23H2, which is the subject of another thread in this subforum. But with 24H2 it just got worse.

I'll probably allow my main rig to move forward when the update gets pushed, but the secondary rig is staying on W10, and I've adjusted the registry and group policy to block W11. I've already started organizing the Steam library into collections for where the games will work and where they won't.

24h2 has been a dumpster fire
Unfortunate its this build that got picked for LTSC.

I remember 1809 being another unfortunate one, as the 2 builds after it got some pretty major fixes/improvements.

Earlier today, i did a fresh install of Windows 11 23H2 Pro and guess what, EVERYTHING is working just fine, every single game, Nvidia Control Panel and others.
I think we caught 24H2 in action.
Thank you everyone, Thank you so much.
