Jame won't recgonize itself as being uninstalled and now it won't reinstall

ok peeps, I uninstalled J2SE Runtime Enviornment 5.0 Update 6 then tried to install a newer version did'nt work... I tried removing java from registry and from uninstall list but my system still insists that it's there any help?

have you tried re-installing the J2SE Runtime Enviornment 5.0 Update 6 then un-install it again?

sometimes things get left behind.. u end up with a new install not working cos it thinks its already installed.. mostly its a registry entry u cant find..

try useing a tool called ERUNT.. it backs up your registry on a daily basis.. if an install or uninstall goes wrong u just revert back to a reg copy made before the install took place..

not much help now but its a tool thats saved my bacon countless times..

sorry i dont know how to help with your current problem but useing erunt should stop such things ever happening again..

You tried running CCleaner it finds all sorts of files that have been left after an In/uninstall

I don't know if it worked yet, but I'm downloading java now, but cclaner did find 515 bad registry entries.

Hey, forget the above post. CCleaner worked, but my wimdows installer thing was messed up. Now I have java, all I had to do was start the service
Now all I have is an unremoveable entry in the add/remove programs list that I can't get rid of :|
