i have been using an msi 290x gamer oc for ages, since i bolted the nxzt g10 and h20 920 to it, it has been great. performance is miles better as it gets 0 throttling, even when clocked.

i added a vrm heatsink too. vrms sit 45/55c and the core is under 65c with noise levels much lower than the stock cooler they used. i can run the fans slower and keep it silent and still not see 80c.

i got the cooler for the cost of shipping as the old owner had broke the cpu mount and paid about £20/25 for the g10 mount and vrm sink. you can get aio water loops dirt cheap.

I'm going to test a few newer titles and see what happens. (Be back soon, haha)

EDIT: Everything is stock except fan curve, let's see what we get. Ambient temperature is about 22-23 °C

The temperatures stabilise around 90-91 °C, so that is pretty good. Everything is at stock (except the fan curve, look at previous post) and NO THROTTLING! yay
Would installing a fan on the side (intake) or a fan on the bottom (intake) help, to feed the card some more fresh air and dropping temperature by a couple degreees?

NOTE: I always play with my FPS capped at 60 and the GPU is never actually under full-load in a real world scenario.

yes it will.
use 120-140mm low rpm fans (1400-1600 rpm) and add both side and bottom.

I flashed on an R9 390X BIOS, somehow the temperatures in idle dropped almost 10 °C, while gaming with stock clocks I get around 90 °C. Extra 120 mm fan on side (1200 RPM) drops the temp. to 85 °C. I guess this makes me happy? :D

it is still hell of a card for 1080p. you wont be disappointed from performance. stock cooler is driving it back. if you get replacement cooler you will be even happier :)

Well, I had to set a custom fan curve, tried to make it as quiet as possible while still giving me quite good cooling. It spins just short of 3000 RPM after some time and it still gets somewhat noticable. I wana have it cool and healthy for some time, haha.

I didn't read everything but try a FPS limiter (Frame Target Control or whatever it's called in Radeon drivers), it's more useful than downclocking and artificially limiting it yourself that way, because the GPU will do it automatically by itself then. You may need to still undervolt though. Another possibility would be using RivaTunerStatisticsServer, it's a part of AB.

My framerate is capped at 60 by Radeon Settings :)
