ok,
I waisted two hours trying to get this game to work. it just crashes to desktop after a few seconds in a menu. if you would read official forums, many are angry that eidos promised patch for such a long time, yet failed at keeping up with hopes of many.
anyway. some say that updating xliveredistr would solve the problem, yet when i download a new version, it starts and quits just like the game

but the old distr works just fine when its already installed (if you would go and uninstall it from add/remove, then both versions will crash, so you would need to reinstall game from CD)
next thing is run as admin... lol, if only that made any difference, but it doesn't... :shadedshu
finally... here is something that actually had some positive effect - in DXDIAG, sound tab, bring acceleration to none. it makes sound in game just horrible, but it crashes far less (half of the time you can actually start the campaign and play first couple minutes, but it always crashes in garage that is assaulted by police.)
I suspect audio drivers to be the reason and possibly those crazy xlive drivers (now downloading daniel_k ones), windows xp sp3 (there are some things that do not work opposed to sp2 or sp1), windows installer (quites installation randomly or when pressing browse, not always, but games like UT3 and Kane and lynch and that was INSANE!!!!
i think that was the latest windows installer, so ...)
and there you go... any advice?
UPDATE: I finally got and installed, windows installer 4.5, may be it will let me to update xliveredistr
UPDATE2: nope, can't update xlive.... still...
