Hello everyone.

I'm on a big dilema, because i'm going to upgrade my TV in November, and make some changes in my space, and now i will be able to connect my PC to the TV and start playing more in there, leaving the monitor just for games that are better (or require) mouse, FPS/RTS/etc...

Now, i know my GPU probably will not allow me to play at 4K max settings, like i do right now with my 1440p monitor... I usually upgrade my GPU every year, so that's why i'm thinking about getting 4070 Ti for some more power and smaller investment and hope that RTX 5000 series come at better pricing, or just get the overpriced RTX 4080.

Btw, i'm talking European prices, so it would be 900€ 4070 Ti, 1250€ 4080 only the MSI Gaming X Trio, love that variant because super cool and silent, and selling my RTX 3080 for around 400€...

Third option, keep my RTX 3080 till RTX 5000 come, and having to play at lower graphic settings.

P.S. I will be upgrading my monitor to 32" 4K too in a few months or Q1 2024.

Best regards.

you seem to be nvidia only but if ya would buy new only that would make sense is a 7900xtx for 1100 minus 400

or get the cheapest 4090 for 1600.- minus 400

No one call tell you what to do, you have to figure out what you enjoy and go for it.

The 4070Ti is, going by TPU, going to get you around 15-20% performance gains over the 3080 (depending on resolution). The 4080 is going to get you around 25-30% over a 3080.

I only buy Nvidia cards, AMD GPU's only gave me problems and big headaches when i had one, never again.

I wanted to get RTX 4080, because i know it's going to be the best choice for 4K Quality Gaming on TV and Monitor, but since i'm going to sell it as soon as 5000 comes up, not sure if it's worh the extra investement or not for a product that is already overpriced (all of them are actually, except 4090).

GPU prices in Europe at least, are ridiculous, none of them seem to be a good buy.

The 3080, with DLSS, should be good for a 4K TV. If you really want to upgrade, then you shouldn't be looking for anything slower than the 4080 or 7900 XTX.

Everytime i look at that, i think to myself "It's easier to justify 800€ upgrade to 4080 than 500€ for the 4070 Ti, the difference is so huge" .

But still lot of money for both scenarios. specially when i've sold my RTX 2080 Super for 600€ and got RTX 3080 for 800€ at launch in 2020, i guess that's never going to happen again.

Yeah that's rather unlikely to happen again. 500 € for the 4070 Ti for a relatively insignificant performance difference is not wise; the 4080 is better, but staying with the 3080 and relying on DLSS is the best option. Of course, it depends upon what your preferences are.

I'd just keep the 3080 until the 580 releases. The current gen consoles are not getting more RAM then they have now, so while ultra may be out of the picture, high will be perfectly serviceable at 4k for awhile yet.

Either way, upgrading high end GPUs every gen is gonna be a HUGE waste of cash, no matter what you do.

I'd just keep the 3080 since you're gaming at 1440p, it handles that just fine.
Pull the trigger on something next gen when you'll get a better return in performance uplift for the money.

are you willing to spend for a 4090?
if yes, do buy that
otherwise, keep your 3080-10gb
