Keyboard recomendation under $50

Two days ago i bought myself a Logitech MK270 keyboard & mouse combo - "BIG MISTAKE" they were supposed to communicate directly with each other (nope, not happening).
I see nothing in the marketing documentation that says anything about communicating with anything (other than its single USB dongle), let alone each other. In fact, the mouse and keyboard communicating with each other is a new one on me. So where did you read that?

For sure, even for $29.99, every keypress should be properly registered, as well as every mouse click and jester - but only the clicks and jesters the user makes. So you certainly have a legitimate complaint there. But frankly, your problem sounds much more like interference from another nearby source and not a defect or poor/cheap design. I would temporarily move the dongle to a different pair of ports - perhaps in the front of the case if currently in the back. And for sure, not in an external hub.

Still, for only $29.99 ($25 if you shop around) I would not expect stellar gaming performance even if that was the price for just the keyboard. You essentially are expecting perfection from a $15 wireless keyboard. IMO, your expectations are way too high, even without the interference problems.

Edit comment: Fixed typo.

Reviews are generally very positive for that KB. I'm one of those people that prefer membrane to mechanical. I do a fair amount of typing and mech's are just too noisy for my taste.

I have a similar issue and prefer to type on membrane keyboards. As a hard "typist", if I use a linear key mechanical keyboard my fingers will actually hurt after an hour or so of typing. That I said, for competive gaming purposes mechanical keyboards are great. For most solo games a membrane keyboard does the job with no issue. Like Bill stated, whatever feels best for you.

but my G11 was a fine example of membrane can be done quite well.

Too much cost cutting, far more manufactures than back then to increase OEM competition, and brands need to include those pretty lights every gaming keyboard must have while keeping a similar cost. Like I said, I basically have the exact same keyboard and it's great for gaming and solid for typing. Better than anything out there currently but if logitech were to build it again, I'm guessing the price would be approaching mechanical keyboard prices once you install the RGB lighting (a must have at that price).

So my wife picked herself out a Red Dragon K580, it came in today and I'm "borrowing it" to test it out, I quite like how it feels, not a big fan of the software but overall it feels nice, its a bit cramped compared to my old one, but its alot easier than the ONN brand i was using, and price wasn't to bad, i might consider one of these, only downside is this thing is super nosiey

Good keyboard at a fair price I think. Family member has one and it's been solid since he got it in 2019.
