Youre better off upgrading the wifi-card because of the extra bandwidth that the mini-pci express slot gives...
Its really straight forward:
Replace the Ralink card with an Intel 7260.HMW. I have one of these in my laptop and it works great. You'll see faster speeds if your router also supports Wireless AC
The only possible fly in the ointment here is if HP have a whitelist only for parts the laptops roll off the production line with, meaning that you cant upgrade the wifi card with a completely different one because HP straight up wont allow it. They pull crap like that so you either suck it up and live with it or source replacement parts directly from them. Its a stupid thing to do but HP arent the only manufacturers that do it.
If you dont try out the intel card, you wont know if it will or wont work. There is simply no way to tell as HP have flipflopped on whitelists with different generations of their laptops so many times. But the video guide is here if you want to give it a go.
