Guys, this is weird.

I've "lost" my Vista themes :wtf:
Vista Basic and Vista Aero just aren't there in theme settings or personalized settings.

Also, yesterday utorrent was here, today it 'vanished', and I had to download and install it again.

I'm currently doing a full scan with Malwarebytes. :ohwell:

At this point, I think you should cut your losses and do a full reformat. Yes, you might be able to fix the problem(s), but the time spent to fix the problems will not be worth it anymore imo.

I agree . At this point you should reformat and see if this fixes the problem , If not your laptop is dieing out and that is a shame .

BP - how many system restores so you have? What I mean is if you look at the total number of possible system restores available, do you have less than 5 or more than 5 restore points?
How often do you run defraggler?

EDIT: I'm also interested to see what the windows defrag (not defraggler) reports for the disk fragmentation.

no but a dead mobo can cause errors in everything attached to it
excuse me for butting in here but if his Mobo is close to the point of being 'Dead' then wouldn't the Notebook not even turn on or it would at least shut off after turning it on. i'd go and reformat. save Data via External Device. this seems to be hardware related and have you even checked the status of the HDD?

No, there are so many different controllers etc on the mobo that certain parts can go and everything else will carry on regardless, that said it is unlikely that that would happen, however once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
