DailyTech is reporting that a few more details on AMD/ATI's next graphics processor are available. Apparently there are three GPUs set to be launched over the coming months, the flagship R600 along with the R610 and R630. Previously the slower models have been given lower codenames by ATI, but the R610 is expected to be the mid-range card, whilst the R630 is likely to be the budget offering - both the R610 and R630 are due for June 2007. The R600 is believed to support unified shaders and both GDDR4 and GDDR3 memory. GDDR3 versions of the A12 revision of the card are being shown to select press, with the A13 expected to be the final revision of the chip. The most powerful card will be the R600 with GDDR4 memory, although clock speeds are still unknown.

Meanwhile, the Inquirer has gained confirmation that although all the hardware is running fine, the chip may still be delayed and miss its scheduled launch for late February. This is because AMD/ATI wants to ensure that they have enough chips to meet demand, rather than facing a shortage. The release date is now expected to be at the end of Q1, but this remains a target and is yet to be confirmed.

i know for a fact this will be better than 8800GTX

It should be (or should I say better be) better than an 8800GTX.
The 8800GTX has been out for a little while now.
Just based on that fact, ATI should of had been able to study it and created a better card.

What I hate is ATI doesnt seem to keep their dates as of late.
This card has been delayed already - It was suppose to be originally released in Jan.

And on top of that they keep releasing DX9 cards that you prob. cant justify in buying.

What I am very interesed in seeing is how they will price their high end card and how Nvidia will respond.

No one knows anything right, sit down.

Release date for MARCH? This sucks.

Do you really? Great, but by the time this is released the 8900GTX and 8900GT will already be on the market (rumored release time: late Feb.). Do you know for a fact that it will be better than them?

i'll try this again...lol..

a month or so ago, someone had posted what may or may not have been pictures of the new R600....i can't find that thread now, but i did find this pic yesterday....looks to be diff. from the pics we have seen before..

any thoughts on it being real or not??

lol...you do know that its always going to be like that right....one company has the fastest card, then the other company releases their fastest card, then the other company releases their even faster card........of course future tech. will be faster then the R600...lol..

I cant fault them for delaying and making sure they have enough. (Ps3, Wii, Xbox 360 anyone???) Im very interested in seeing this, and who knows, if nvidia releases a new model (8900 etc) then they may delay a slight bit more to top it. Nothing wrong with that.

wel its jus like intel and amd, amd was in front and then two yrs after intel are back in front, u can neva keep up with tech, im not so sure that it will be a lot faster, obviously it has an advantage of the GDDR4 mem over the 8800 but benchies and performance will proove us right or wrong.
