Hello,

Maybe someone could help me find a good thin laptop with good screen and a decent audio ?
Laptop will be used for programing, watching movies, NO GAMING. Thats what desktops are for.
Lenovo's are out of the question... i had so many problems with them that i dont even want to talk about it.
I still have my old M17XR4 from my college days and it still works great, it has SUPERB colors and great audio but.... its heavy, thick and not very practical.
I do care about the audio as well. I have x570 tomahawk in my desktop and the audio quality on it is... absolutely trash.. seriously a cheap 2$ mp3 players has better audio than x570 tomahawk.. thats why i bought yamaha ag-03 for my desktop.
I also dont want the laptop to be thick, up to 19mm max i would say which is still thick but.. not that bad.

What i found in my local online stores was Dell Vostro 15 3525 (WVA, FHD, 120 Hz, 1920 x 1080, Anti-glare, AMD Ryzen 3, 5425U, 8 GB, DDR4, SSD 256 GB). Dont really care about 120Hz it actually sounds silly on the laptop...

I read some reviews about it and most said that it has poor colors and it runs hot... but those were old reviews, maybe now it has gotten better ? Any other recommendations ? Thanks in advance

sounds more like you want a macbook more than anything.

also unless you also use your yamaha for recording audio, it shows that you do not actually care about audio since there are way better audio output devices you can buy with how much that ag-03 costs.

I do care about the audio but not to the extend where i would pay a LOT of money for it, Ag-03 cost 90 eur so i dont think its a lot and yes i also use it for recording with Rode mic. macbook's are way overpriced not interested in them

If you state your location it will make it much easier for us to assist you - like no Newegg links if you are not in the USA.

That would be great if Newegg could work for me but no :) Im from northern europe, lithuania

It is a tad expensive but it seems to be a nice model.
Thanks for the help. I looked it up and while im not against HP the price is a lot bigger than my Dell option and from reviews it looks like it has even worse screen :/ I have to look around more, but thanks for you help

In which country will you buy it? I've used similar displays as the one in HP 445 G8. It's not bright enough for outdoor use, but inside it's fine. I'd say 300 nit is decent, and when I looked at Dell uk I saw the Vostro rated at 250 nit.
Anyway, I dare you to find a quieter 6 core Ryzen laptop than the 445 G8. 31 DBa is very low in their tests, and you get two heatpipes instead of one, which may be the reason why the Dell runs hot.

The HP is only €570 in germany at least, although I know it's probably more expensive in other countries.

Both models are office models, so don't expect great audio. Maybe you expect a bit too much from a €700 laptop.

Yeah... in my country its 720 eur
Im not expecting SUPER audio just nothing that would sound like it runs from the bottom of the ocean... like X570 tomahwak is..

I need to do a bit more research but i think i found something good. HP Pavilion 14-ec0007nn
From the reviews (altho with i5 rather than with ryzen), screen is 250 nit but srgb is over 90% thats sounds GREAT.
17mm so its not too thick, 35db, and it costs 630 in my area i think it might be my choise

A laptop under €700 can be considered cheap, while the Tomahawk wasn't really cheap, yet the latter had bad sound. The odds are against you when it comes to finding good audio. If you want more alternatives at those prices you should have a look at Intel laptops, especially if you won't be using it for games anyway. Like it or not, but Ryzen laptops aren't that common.

Ended up buying HP Pavilion 14-ec0007nn for 620 eur. Ryzen 5-5500U, 8GB ram and 25GB ssd. Cpu is WAY more powerful than my old Alienwaresm17xr4 i7-3720qm even tho i dont need that much power. Screen is great. Audio was a bit lacking but nothing that EQ couldnt fix. Its very light and its aluminium base feels great. Battery on the other hand... like reviews said its not the best. On power saver mode and doing simple coding (cpu usage maybe at 2-3%) it would probably last about 3 hours. But other than that im happy with it. Thanks everyone for suggestions and help :)

How in the hell did they manage to get so few hours out of that CPU? And reading notebookchek's review shows 2 hours gaming, so three hours with light work sounds wrong.
