At $1000, yeah I would say it's a great gaming laptop. The 5730 is a little weak & the screen res is a tad low but other than that, great laptop. There's a similar Asus laptop on Amazon for $50 less, but the Asus only has 4GB of RAM.

The only Asus I see that's comparable is $999. There is a tradeoff. The Asus has a 260M, which is somewhat better than the 5730, but it has an i5 instead of the 17 in the Lenovo.
