hey, i need help with my i7 4720hq.
the cpu on stress test launching turbo boost, but immediately stopping and cpu speed is only 2,6 ghz. I really want to make stable 3,6 or 3,8 but there is a problem - temperatures.
after trying to set multiplier to 34T , undervolting to -60mV temps going to 85 celcius.
Laptop have new thermal paste: thermal grizzly, fans are clear and removed the mesh to get more air.
modded bios so i can tweak cpu in advanced settings, maybe there i can find some options?
please help, i want to increase perfomance as much as possible :p
here is the photos of settings:

update #1:

i just removed another mesh from chassis and taped fans to cooler so air can go directly to heatsink and lowered a little bit mV (-70). After that i saw massive temp drop so increased multiplier to 36 T.
max temp. on cinebench was 80 celcius. Im gonna do more testing and then maybe check the temps while gaming.

increased multiplier to 36 T
Check the Overclock box in the FIVR window to access the 36 multiplier when 4 cores are active.

Set the PP0 Current Limit to the max, 1023. Clear the BD PROCHOT box on the main screen.

Many similar 4th Gen laptops will always enforce the 47W turbo power limit during any long term test. If that becomes a limit when trying to run faster, you can try using the PowerCut feature. I think that trick will work on your CPU. To use PowerCut you first need to set a fixed VCCIN value, usually somewhere between 1.75V and 1.80V. Press Apply and then check the PowerCut box and press Apply again. Do this while your computer is reasonably idle. Post an updated FIVR screenshot after you do that.

Using PowerCut tricks the CPU so the reported power consumption does not increase very much when you go between idle and full load. This trick might help you get way beyond 47W as long as the rest of your laptop can handle the challenge.

There is an option you can add to the INI file called IGPU. This lets you increase the IGPU power limit. It might help fix GPU POWER from lighting up in Limit Reasons. Copy and paste this line into the ThrottleStop.INI file and then restart ThrottleStop.

IGPU=100

I still sometimes use a Lenovo laptop with a 4700MQ. Lots of ThrottleStop development was done while using this laptop so ThrottleStop includes lots of little tricks to get the most out of 4th Gen mobile CPUs.

There are no free lunches. Faster CPUs create more heat and run hotter.

At least you found a way to run your CPU at a steady 36 multiplier. Should you run your CPU closer to the edge of self destruction on a daily basis? Probably not. It would be best to back off your overclock for daily use. Save max performance mode for special occasions.

what u think about this:
The maximum turbo ratios for a 4720HQ are 38, 37, 36, 36. Setting all of the turbo ratios to 38 does not do anything.

If you can maintain the full 36.00 multiplier for an entire Cinebench run then that is as good as it gets for your CPU. You cannot run a 4720HQ any faster than that during any test where all four cores are active.

If you want to run Cinebench faster you will need to buy a new laptop. Some newer laptops with 13900HX processors can reach over 35000 points in Cinebench R23. Intel has made a lot of progress in terms of mobile performance during the last 9 year but I still like using my cool running 4700MQ while watching TV.

i just run cinebench to check stability, i think i will keep that settings and tommorow gonna check how some games works. i have an pc but i get this laptop for free so i just wanna experiment with him :)
