Namaste hello guys

can anybody throw some light on this?

i have a lenovo z51 i5 laptop....its AMD graphics card has stopped working. Lenovo service people told me that the card is beyond repair and to make things right again they need to replace the entire motherboard along with the broken AMD graphics card....they told me that the graphics card alone cannot be replaced??? of course i have never seen or heard this before...always thought that one can simply replace a graphics card.

thank you in advance

Many if not the majority of laptops it’s soldered chips so this is pretty normal.

It's probably cheaper to replace the entire Motherboard, than to buy a new chip and have it re-balled on to the board.
Does the integrated graphics still function?

Look for that model laptop on eBay, you might get lucky and find a cheap one with a broken screen, cracked case etc that has a working motherboard.
I have fixed a few laptops that way.

You won't find that in India, as Toothless said get a new board or laptop. There's no cheap option here.
