"That didn't last long" is what the user that brought us this story opened up with, and there's really not much more that can be said to encapsulate this event. Remember how Razer announced, in April of 2018, it would be introducing its own Razer Games Store, looking to grab a slice of the publishing revenue from Steam? Well, the project didn't quite pan out - whether because of its zSilver-associated rewards program or not, Razer is pitting this as part of its "realignment plans".

The Razer Game Store will close its doors at 1am PST February 28, with purchased games continuing to work, and pre-ordered titles shipping as planned. Discount vouchers, however, must be used before that date. TechCrunch reports that in a Q&A accompanying the announcement, Razer said it would "continue bringing games to gamers via other services." "We will be investing in other ways to deliver great content and introduce game promotions through Razer Gold, our virtual credits system," the company said. The Epic games store is developing at a relatively good pace, even if the titles are somewhat sparse - it has been nagging more and more high-profile launches from Steam's doorstep, as it did with Metro Exodus. So it isn't that much a problem of it being an impossible market to break in to - it just seems EPIC developed a wholly better strategy (businesswise) for it.

Off Topic but in regards to Razer, I will never ever buy another peripheral from them ever, unless it has on-board memory. Razer Synapse is Junk!

Didn't they just enter some kind of partnership with Tencent?

I tried purchasing a game from them once...

Created an account, paid through Paypal (instantly charged my account) and everything seemed to go smoothly. About an hour later I get an email from Nexway asking for a copy of my DL/Passport. Yeah...no. I told them that that's the shady sort of thing that grey-market resellers like G2A do and asked them to cancel my order. They apparently did some point as it was refunded to my Paypal account but they never even bothered to send me any sort of email confirmation. How many people would actually send that sort of personal information to them?

Sounds like when TigerDirect told me to text them a picture of my state ID when I was buying from them.

I'd sort of understand if I were paying with a credit card, but not through Paypal. Though even then, I'm not sending that. lol

Not surprised.

Yesterday i just feel to visit this Razer games store, forgot my password, request for reset
and then now read this article:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Bought Wildlands from them for about $16 CAD when it was going for more elsewhere at the time. Worked fine for me. But that was the only title I ever got from them.

Oh well.

Yet let’s all jump on Epic’s attempt...

They're not the same thing.

Razer Game Store was simply a digital store front, like Amazon, GMG or Humble Bundle.

Epic Games Store is a digital distribution platform, like a Steam, Origin or Uplay.

And an absolutely piss poor one compared to any of them. Epic is barely more than a digital store front at this point, packaged as a “launcher” like the others actually are.
