LGA2011 Sandy Bridge-EP Xeon Processor on Ebay

So basically the consumer CPUs and higher end server CPUs are going to have faster cores, lower power consumption and perhaps more cores too(at least for the server versions).

Edit!!

The following is an Intel roadmap which was recently leaked.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/04/2011-intel-roadmap.jpg

It looks like Ivy Bridge is to be released in 1H 2012. This would mean it could be up to a year away.

the intel Xeon E7's are already out on lga 1567 with up to 10 cores/20 threads, and 30MB cache.

ivy bridge is a mainstream target, any xeons based on those will be the desktop swapout versions. Similar to the lga 775 based xeons were. So imo those aren't real xeons.

The Xeon E7 is not based on Sandy Bridge though AFAIK.

So basically the performance and the custom Xeons are going to be Sandy Bridge based 32NM processors. This means Intel will be using 32NM for a decent number of processors for a while to come.

So it wouldn't be illegal for a person to buy this, but what about AMD? Would it be illegal for a company to buy it, slice it, electron scope it?

I don't think it would be illegal.
Both companies have reverse engineering departments.. Moreover there's an agreement between both since the early PC days, that they must share certain information between each other (except lithography, etc)..

Dont buy amd, cause this puppy is right around the corner
I wonder how much it will be..

Cant wait for bulldozer to wipe intel clean in performance so we dont have to listen to these foolish comments ;) :rockout:

Dream on, dream oooon.

Intel has never asked me to return their ES chips..

Even if that happened, the comments would double. Remember athlon xp and 64?
Intel's propaganda and compiler tricks would win out commercially.
