The successor of the smallest Lian Li O11 Dynamic has finally arrived after nearly five years, in the form of the O11D Mini V2. Coming in at nearly the same exterior dimensions as the original, the chassis has been completely revamped inside and out, making for a compelling compact fish tank style chassis.

So apart from 10Gbps USB-C port IO panel is missing reset button and LEDs and HDD trays also lack any vibration dampners but for some reason 2.5" SSD mounts get those. Overall just meh.

I thought I would be upgrading my Lian Li Air Mini, but I see I'm not.

Mini ??? :roll:

Dimensions:423.6 mm x 273.3 mm x 391.95 mm

Volume
Mini V2 = 45L (?)
A3 = 23L
Q58 = 15L
A4 = 12L

ATX chassis should not exist in the "Small" chassis range... because they are NOT small

This marketing is ridiculous :wtf:

This is good entry from LianLi. For those interested, there is a white version of both this and the Flow variation model.

Me like, but why can't we have it with 140mm side and bottom fans? I need an eventual successor for my Crystal 280X...

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see any mention of Back Connect motherboard compatibility, which is important in fish bowl cases.

Here I was hoping for some tweaks to say, fit 3x120mm fans in the same compact footprint but retaining the dense practicality of the original with its mesh front and other functions.

Instead, we get a dumb half assed 'show case' where both Hyte and the SFF crowd have better, more aesthetically pleasing options, and is not small enough to warrant losing the features of the full sized O11 either.

Those HDD mounts are terrible, they had it all figured out on the previous o11 mini (both air and regular) with the hotswap things, why did they need to reinvent something that worked so well!? The only thing missing was a backplane, otherwise it was perfect. Now it's garbage

What? The drive mounts are one of the thing I liked about this case. Not seeing your complaint, nor your claim that it's garbage.

This was how it worked in the previous case, you had a HDD cage with hot swap trays and rear access. You could even use the space for a second PSU if you were into that sort of thing. It was missing a backplane, which they started selling at some point, but was still pretty neat.

This is how they have done it now. Individual sleds hanging from 5 screws each, no rear access, no extra usability whatsoever. How is this not a huge step backwards?

Yup, that's a super minor thing. That in no way qualifies this case as garbage.

I didn't say the case was garbage, I said the drive mounts in the back are garbage compared to the previous version.

Overall it's a mixed bag, some areas were improved at the cost of slightly increase in size, others were clearly cost cut to meet the price point - price that decreased vs the original so that's something at least.

I have the original O11 Dynamic Mini and i keep it!
The old one is the better design in my opinion. not perfect either.

Oh?
The only thing missing was a backplane, otherwise it was perfect. Now it's garbage
That's what you said above. Sure they changed things from the previous version. The drive mounts are very good IMO. I looked up the older version and I can see your complaint. However, one change from a previous iteration does not make it garbage.

This case is, like all other cases, designed to meet a certain set of requirements. No design is ever perfect for everyone's expectations.

This test is really strange, with no lateral airflow and suction at the bottom of the case. It's no surprise that it fails the airflow tests.
A mistake by the intern?
