I don't want to play this game. I have 5 other computers tasked in my office.
Hell, I live in 32m2 apartment yet I have three working desktops

My system is pretty mid by all accounts, though you should see what I upgraded from.

How are your GPU temps? I have the same card on my "console" PC and the stock cooler is a total joke, had to get an aftermarket cooler for it. I also had it paired with a 3600 before, so I have experience with how those run games. :)

OpenBSD is very obscure for desktop systems.
I have to say that in terms of security, stability, privacy and overall software quality, it is a high-quality experience that I would rate as 9.5/10 (on this hardware).

TMTM and always changing (benching and other stuff)

It's in my profile. Yes, I'm running my RAM at JEDEC standard 4800 MHz, because it shaves 10 W off my CPU power for maybe 0.01% loss in performance.

True, since X3D chips have a large cache, they aren't that much RAM bottlenecked as normal Ryzens. :)

Exactly. :) The other thing is that with my resolution and graphic settings, I'm GPU limited 99% of the time. And when I'm not (in old games), I'm maxing out my 144 FPS limit, so I wouldn't feel any extra performance anyway.

100% this. I'm running the Ryzen 7 7840HS mentioned earlier with Turbo off because it makes zero difference in games as I'm completely GPU-limited. 20°C lower temps and 40% power reduction. I did the same for the kid's R9 7940HS gaming laptop. CPU's overkill for a 4060 so running turbo off is a fantastic way to save power and especially heat and fan noise in a small chassis.

Probably whatever is in the system specs tab that's open to everyone.
What only can hold 1 system while i have around 23/24 systems.....

Might get 4K/240 OLED at same time, but would mean getting two 4K monitors since I won't use mixed resolutions.

I also have 2 mining rigs going and a Gaming laptop I bought for my 50th instead of a Vacation (Covid).

For the first time in about 10 years I am sated. While I had my 5800X3D/6800XT system I bought the GIGABYTE FV43U to run my PC and actually played most of my Games at 1440P. With this new setup I laugh at 4K and since I am a Strategy Game nut Games like City Skylines 2 are smooth as butter (no matter how big I make the city. The cherry for me though is my 2.1 Creative Stage V2. In my room with the PC finding old reggae tracks on YT are rewarding. I used to have LOGITECH before and there is no comparison. It was one of the best $100 I have ever spent.

Technically you can fit like 5 systems in there if you dumb it down. I don't want to know your power bill.

To be honest: €0
I make over 800KWh each month this summer months :peace:

The GPU gets quite toasty. I don't remember the exact numbers, but I've seen the hotspot reach over 100°C. Which aftermarket cooler did you go for? I might try repasting with a better cooler as in the summer months it frequently reaches or exceeds 30°C ambient here.

I love the 3600 and it's served me well over the past four years ( ) at 4.40 GHz. End goals for this platform now are moving to an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III, upgrading the CPU to a 5700X3D/5800X3D, and getting a better GPU as I find myself playing in windowed mode 3200×1800 anyway. I was hoping I could cheat and use the Windows scaling to my advantage for better frame rates, and while it works for GTA, it doesn't seem to work for Fortnite. The 6700 XT for £279 is still a very noticeable upgrade from the RX 570 I was using before so I'm content for now.

The desktop I'm currently using is...

Pentium 4 2.6GHz 400FSB
Intel D850EMV2 motherboard
4x256MB 800-45 RDRAM
MSI GF3 Ti200
WD 40GB HDD
LG DVD ROM
3.5" floppy drive
Antec 550w PSU
Windows 2000 SP4
Generic beige box case
ViewSonic 1280x1024 monitor

I'll take it apart, put the components back on the shelves & build something else in a week or two. :)

Slightly modified Raijintek Morpheus II, bought it second-hand unused from an interwebz buddy. Paid 480EUR for the card back in 2022, now when it's on my TV-PC, I can run basically everything without problems as I have a 1080p60 TV. Used to have it connected to a 4K monitor before :D

edit: I upgraded from a 1080 Ti to 6700 XT since my friend wanted that card and he paid well, so the upgrade cost actually only 180EUR

Thank you for the reminder to update my awesome (NOT) system specs - Done.

It's basically the system in my description thingie:
Screenshot 2024-09-09 at 10.47.26.png

(i use arch btw)

By February I should be getting a hold of a 9950x and 4x64GB of RAM (fingers crossed that those will be available by then) for a nice upgrade, and will leave this setup as a kind of server thingie for some of my projects inside my k8s cluster.
However, I'm not sure how to go with the GPUs. The 5950x as a server will likely just need a single 3090, so I'm wondering if I should go 2x5090 if they're good enough and pricing isn't that awful (I'll likely give the other 3090 away to someone in this case), or just get another used 3090 or even a 4090 (only if it's as cheap as a 3090, not much perf uplift for my use cases).

One benefit of a theoretical 2x5090 setup on a PCIe 5.0 motherboard would be double the bandwidth with a x8/x8 setup, so similar to 4.0 x16/x16, which is pretty nice for some workloads given that NVLink is not a thing anymore.

I'm curious why some of you guys don't fill in your System Specs on your profile?
For me, I guess it's complacency or procrastination? There's not a particular reason I haven't done it, but there's also not necessarily a reason I needed to have done it, so... I haven't.

If my stuff is ever needed for a thread, I think it would be better to include that information in the post content itself because that post will remain indefinitely, but the stuff may change over time and thus no longer be relevant to the thread.
That's a pretty space bar.
