Another alternative is to get a CM 90 deg adapter. I keep one in my spares box.

You support the rear side/edge with one hand, and push with the other.
Is it safe to touch the back of the motherboard and do I support the back of the motherboard with my fingers pressing the motherboard while I push in the 24 pin

Yup, as long as the system isn't powered on, you have grounded yourself beforehand, and your fingers aren't horribly dirty or covered with something that conducts electricity.

Manufactured make money by usin parts that are not as good as the best available. A cheaper PSU Manufacturer is more likely to favor saving a few cents per connector where maybe they skipped some quality control steps .... maybe one or two of the male connector has a small burr, maybe there's some manufacturing "skizzle" ... it's a technical term :) ,,, thats adhering to the connector somewhere that is preventing full insertion. If you're anal about it (i resemeble that remark) , there are various wats to address from exacto blades, dremel tools, electically safe lubricants can be useed to make it fully seat. On;y a detailed examination will tell you what might have the best success.

My Power supply is a EVGA and the connector seems a bit rough to put in so I just bought cable extensions for the 24 pin to see if it go in the connector easier
