Hi there,

this morning I was playing Battlefiel 2042 when suddenly the game crashed and all USB-Ports and the network adapter restarted. Following descriptions I found in the event log:

Beschreibung
Aufgrund eines Hardwareproblems ist Windows nicht mehr voll funktionsfähig.

Produkt: 256_1
Betriebsystemversion: 10.0.22000.2.0.0.256.48
Gebietsschema-ID: 1031

After restarting the PC I got the same error with the following description:

Beschreibung
Aufgrund eines Hardwareproblems ist Windows nicht mehr voll funktionsfähig.

Problemereignisame: LiveKernelEvent

I also received this error a few weeks ago but then I thought it disappeared - well it didn't.

Actually I don't know how to face this issue as my hardware seems to be ok (Already tested ram and stress tetsted cpu) and the Internet is full with this error and there seems to be no conrete advice.

My specs are:
- Intel i9 12900k
- ASUS ROG Strix Asus Z690-F Gaming Wifi (Latest BIOS 08/2022)
- 32GB G-Skill Trident DDR5 6000 MHZ
- MSI RTX 3080TI SuprimX
- BeQuiet Dark Power 12, 850 Watt
- RTX 3080TI

I appreciate your help

Kind regards
Chris

Hi , well that is a doozy gor me.
PSU rail/cable distribution.

So if hardware past stability tests , the culprits for the crashes might be software:

a)OS update-manual check for update;
b)motherboard drivers;
c)graphics card drivers-roll back/forward(newer version)
d)any hardware changes recently, such as an pci-e sound card/network card/ etc. ?
e)"bloatware" such as RGB software /mouse and or keyboard .

Unfortunately 144 is very vague - microsoft simply says 144 is a hardware issue (not a whole lot of detail...) but quite a lot of threads on google point it towards an issue with the USB enumerator not being able to communicate with a device so maybe start unplugging unnecessary stuff or trying different mouse keyboards, usb cables (where possible) and seeing what happens

The USB ports on your board could also be failing. I had an old X79 board that used to do the same till it wouldnt boot at all one day.

You could try a fresh windows install but that might not solve the issue.

If you cant find a solution. I would suggest RMA'ing the board and seeing what happens when the replacement arrives. It could be the board that is faulty.

Hi,

first of all thank you a lot for your answers!

Well - I must confess that I did not stress test the CPU which I did today with prime 95.

After a couple of minutes the system crashed and restarted. Then I noticed that I had the XMP 1 Profile enabled which I then deactivated. I let prime 95 run for like 40 minutes and everything was fine - all tests passed.
Furthermore I deleted the Logitech software in order to get rid of some bloatware. When the problems occur again I will write

Here we are again - today the same problem again. I closed the edge browser when the USB ports and the network adapters reset again with the 144 Kernel event.

I have no Idea anymore. Actually the system runs stable and with a good performance but always after like 2 weeks I get this error.

Is there a dump where I can see the crash reports to get some help?

And once again… I bought a completely new pc after the pc store took back the old one due to that 144 kernel event that they could not fix - yeah, what should I say… the live kernel event ist back again!
My new setup:
Mainboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-E Gaming wifi
CPU: Intel i9 13900k
GPU: RTX 4090
RAM: 32GB G-Skill Trident Z5RK
M2: Kingston Renegade 2TB
PSU: Seasonic Prime GX 1000 W

And here the error description:

I really have no Idea anymore… in my opinion it must be something that I did not Chance like the monitor, the mouse, the keyboard or the headset. What do you guys think?

At this point im going to say the electricity in your building is bad and it's probably worth getting an electrician to come and inspect all the wiring in the house/apartment or buy a UPS to smooth out the power and prevent ripples, brown outs and 'dirty power'

Because if youre on a second system and this is still happening then there is clearly something wrong with the the power supply from the source. (source being the mains socket or the electrical infrastructure you plug into at the wall) Its a shame you had to build a second system to find out but 'dirty power' isnt a regular occurrence.

Thanks for your reply.
Could this really be the reason? I live in a new flat (built last year) and the system doesn’t run into bsod or turns off.

Im not an electrician so I don't know but at this stage if you're still having issues on a completely different machine maybe it's the source of the power that's the problem and not your computers.

Thats the only advice I can give.

A UPS would probably be the only solution since you live in a flat and won't have access to all the breakers and other important electrical stuff.

The UPS is also multipurpose so it will smooth out dirty power, act as a surge protector and provide a battery backup in case of power cut.

Even if the building is new cowboy builders can still cut corners no matter how reputable they are.

I will now use another headset and see if the kernel event occurs again. Then I gonna test another mouse. Maybe in a month we will know more.

Ora userò un altro auricolare e vedrò se l'evento del kernel si verifica di nuovo. Poi testerò un altro topo. Forse tra un mese ne sapremo di più.

do you use a Hyper X Headset?
my Cloud II has a USB Soundcard which will ALWAYS causes bluescreens and lockup since i bought it almost 5 years ago. (on every PC, with every motherboard or platform)
and i am forced to disable the HID Audio device in the device manager.
your problem sounds like a messed up USB Device more than anything else.

Actually I suspect my ASTRO AS50 Headset to cause this issue. I now switched the headset (Pulse 3D from my Playstation) and wait for the error to occur again.

Hello, I am writing to you after finally being able to solve my problem, of a disconcerting banality... I use two monitors and, quite simply, I just disconnected the second monitor, apparently with many versions of the drivers the dual monitor would seem to cause a crash/glitch of the GPU. To tell the truth, I still did not understand if the problem depends more on a matter of system incompatibility or is the HDMI cable that could be defective. Do you have more than one monitor connected to the GPU? Anyway, I hope my experience can help you in some way!

Staff: Last time I'm translating for you, bud:wtf:

Still no more issues so far. Seems that in my case the Astro a50 headset was the cause.

I have xmp enabled and have no issues. Normally xmp can cause ctds or bluescreens but not live kernel events (as far as I know). My advice: Try to unplug certain usb devices and see if the error still occurs. I know, this is an unsatisfactory answer but that was the only thing that helped me.

Hello,

I built a new computer back in 1/2023 and I have a similar issue where my USB ports will stop working/computer will freeze and restart.

Hi there, the replacement as50 did not solve the issue but it does occur not as often as with the old one. Actually I stopped giving a s*** as most of the time everything is working and as long as the as50 is not plugged in there are no issues.
Nevertheless - for me it’s the last Astro Headset as in my opinion their quality is not worth the money.
He said it did yes in post #18.
that’s right but in the meantime I had in total 2 or 3 live kernels with the as50.
