I have encountered a problem when installing windows xp on a bare system. It starts up fine, then loads into the windows blue screen, checking for hardware configuration, but then upon windows startup, it stops and announces an error.

Stop: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x80840A02, 0xF78D205C, 0xF78D1D58)

any advice as to what to do would be helpful

system:
X2 4400
2048 corsair xms
thermaltake 550w
2 light on opticals
120GB Sata 3gbs WD HDD
ati Radeon 1800XL

PS, I believe the problem to be either having the gpu been installed (physically) but no drivers yet in place <did this because there was no on-board video device> or something to do with the hdd configuration...thx in advance

thx for the site, no luck so far...

if my mobo came with no dvi or vga support, and i obviously can't start windows without it being installed, but the drivers for the gpu that im using (x1800) can only be installed once windows is up and i need the card to work for windows to install (no os on comp yet)... how do i fix this?

ps: mobo is the new Asus mvp x3200 deluxe:banghead:

I got windows loaded....loaded a bunch of drivers...and somehow managed to get a corrupt atapi drive....errrrr all i want to do is wipe the hdd (reformat and kill everything considering theres pretty much nothing on it at all anyhow) and reinstall windows...however when i boot "xp setup" from the cd....it starts setup but stops because of the atapi corruption...which then doesn't allow me to access the re-formatting section of the setup...help please.

are u useing a real copy of windows or some kind of system restore disk that came with an oem machine.. ??

so that would be the problem?....its an oem version of windows that i got from newegg.com....

yesterday i had it up and running cs:s full settings with other programs ..not so much as a quiver ...but now it won't go past post without having to go into safe mode.....is that caused by windows...because if so..ill just get a "full" copy.

thx so far

i think i just got a deffective cd...because others said taht using oem windows (which is meant for use on only one computer) worked fine for them

Thx for all the help...

i think i got i figured out...bad stick of ram....

lol every time i have some wierd problems like that its almost always the ram  and the sad part is i always go through chking everything and find out its the ram as the last part i looked at lol:slap:

the problem with a lot of oem disks is they are mostly just a restore of the original machine exactly as it was.. if hardware has been changed u can end up with a machine that dosnt work cos all the wrong drivers and settings have been restored.. u can also lose lots of data if u think it repairs windows.. it just wipes the lot and takes the machine to exactly how it was when u bought it..
