That kind of money will get you far on 1080p. You can get 1440p for that, I believe. If 1080p, you'll even get Gsync/Freesync if you want to. Depending on where you live.

I bought the Acer GN246HL. It's a 24 inch 1080p 144hz monitor. It's 300$ Canadian but probably much cheaper in America. I love it so far. Very responsive and 144Hz is just awesome.

There are 2048×1080 monitors? Because that is what 2K is.

Don't go for 60hz if the monitor is for gaming. Terrible input feel, tearing, and feels like your staring into a light bulb. 75Hz is the bare minimum refresh rate for gaming

everyone has theyre preferences, just offering a good deal is all.and as i posted above, i Believe that monitor Overclocks, so 75 and up would be attainable iirc. good luck with your search

have you ever used one?
I have, i bought one from LG, and trust me, they SUCK. it just seems like a "cheap" 2K to me, it is SO narrow, IMO not true 2k. Yes i am aware that Technically its 2k, but when you have one in front of You, its dissappointing.i personally dont recommend x1080 "2k" 1440 and up

This is true. I didn't see the OC comment at the end of 60Hz. Sorry about that.

What I mean is 2K is 2048x1080 and nothing else. Technically. If you mean 1440p, say 1440p.

no need to be sorry
everyone has theyre own preferences, Im certainly in NO place to judge You based on Yours...
I recommend that one though.
look into it, i recall reading buyers getting 90Hz, or more. but with Nvidia , i dunno what You have for a GPU. also keep in mind that pushing 2k @ 75Hz+ is gonna take more GPU than 1080 @ 75Hz +.
But as ive told other in the past, just because You buy a 2k monitor doesnt mean You MUST game in 2k, but the option is certainly there.

What I mean is 2K is 2048x1080 and nothing else. Technically. If you mean 1440p, say 1440p.
My bad, i misunderstood. My apologies. its earl;y, and I JUST got the kids on the bus, coffee intake is slowly increasing.. ;) :toast:

I have a gtx 970 superclock the GPU isn't really the concern, eye strain and fatigue however would be if the 60hz monitor has ghosting and motion blur, but as someone stated a lot of these 60hz monitors are being over clocked.

I'm at work today so I'll look into the things you guys are mentioning thanks for all the info and suggestions I'll check back in tonight and look at specs and reviews of all the suggestions

this si one of the best monitors ive found that has a good customer satisfaction ratio to cost/price.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009728

2K (real 2k not that 2560x1080 crap)
60Hz +OC iirc
4MS rsp time
2560x1440
$250
not terrible looking either
i think im going to go ahead and rule this one out, it doesnt seem like a bad option but the 4ms response time with a lower refresh seems like more of a hassle to OC and its larger display size then what im wanting

so no im debating between
GN246HL
XB241h

I think if you have the money you should go for the more prestige of the choices. I love my GN246HL, but it doesn't have all the features the Predator series or Benq's have. The extras like cable management, speakers, headphone jacks, possible USB ports, etc.

The GN246HL is pretty much the bare bones of 144hz monitors. The only feature it really has is Nvidia lightboost. Lol.

i dont really need any of the little extras like that, my headset is USB, i never use the extra speaker etc, i just need a half way decent monitor and that one is $100 below budget so easily do able

XL2411Z
this benq would be in budget as well and a little more features
