specs on the left :D

i cant decide what to do next, i want a new screen as im running a 12/10 20 inch square one atm but i am also about to buy vista (yea i know just dont start, i want to see how well my card holds up in dx10) so i think i might need more ram. what i cant decide wether to get 4x1gb or 2x2gb as im not sure how well 2gig sticks oc. i want a 24inch with hdcp and dvi but not sure which order to upgrade as i cant afford to buy them at the same time.

i also want a quad but figured i would wait till easter when they drop the prices for that, but im not sure wether i should get a better mobo here instead and realy see how far i can push this cpu as i know its my mobo stopping me @3.4ghz.

any and all imput is welcomed.

Id stick with 2gb man and go for the screen.
You wont get much benefit from the extra ram, only in some applications.

The screen would definately be the more aesthetic decision in terms of both general computer and gameplay use.

your card will be fine for vista. I had an 8800GTS 320 that ran Ultimate with Aero full blast.. stick with the 2GB of ram that you have.. you don't need more, and nothing uses 4GB yet.. instead of spending money on more ram, shoot for a different CPU, or maybe another GTS 320 and do SLI? they are down to $199... :D And yes, get a new screen.. I personally like Samsung's LCD's.. but I hear Viewsonic and Westinghouse are also decent monitors for budgets. :)

correction.. you have the G92.. didn't notice that.. sorry. you're fine with a single card. Get a new monitor!

For gaming anything is good really.
Its only when you need a professional level screen that you should worry.

The main things are contrast ratio, response times, and panel type.
Id scour newegg for the basic model that you want, then find reviews on them to ensure that they perform as advertised, and then search for it at the lowest price. As long as you stay with a brand name you should generally be all good though.

good point... look for something with good specs though.. anything 8ms or below response time is good for gaming.

Heres something I found on it
Dislikes:
Vertical viewing angle sucks balls. Especially from below. I watch a lot of TV and movies on my computer and slouch in my chair. Dark seens get really dark...

Monitor stand sucks. No horizontal rotation and vertical is limited. Only 4 degrees down making the above problem quite worst. Up goes to around 30 degrees. Love how it just snaps onto the panel though, and its quite sturdy.

No USB or Cardreader. I have yet to buy a powered USB2 hub and lack USB ports for my mass of external laptop drives and whatnot.

Likes:
Cheap!

1920X1200!

Color and contrast is great. Better than my Samsung 220wm it sits next to and far better than my old 17" NEC lcd.

Black actually looks almost black. (I have yet to see an LCD do this well)

Thin bezel for multimonitor setups

Horizontal viewing angle is pretty good. 30 degrees both ways look unchanged. 45 + only has a small shift in contrast. Text is readable all the way to about 75 where its just the angle making it hard to do anything productive.

Who would want one
Someone upgrading from dieing CRTs. (My reason)

Someone upgrading from another TN panel smaller than 22" You would be quite disappointed if you upgraded from a 22" ultrasharp or any other PVA or IPS panel.

Adding it as a second display. Would go well next to a 2405 or 2407.

Giving your parents a pimp display. My mom saw my monitor and was jealous.

Conclusion
If I were to do it again, I would. If I had the money I would get a different display. But if I had the money, I would save up a little more money and but the 30" ultrasharp. Definitely enough screen realestate that 1 monitor would be sufficient... maybe... Then again you could buy the E248 and save up and buy the 30" next year when its cheaper...............

You can go on and on waiting for a better monitor, just go out and buy one. LCDs are CHEAP.
