Hi all, I have a gt710 actually and I want to upgrade to play AAA games like Baldurs Gate 3 and others exigent games. My budget is 250,000 Argentine pesos.
The store where to found second hand GPUs is: https://www.mercadolibre.com.ar/

I have a R5 1600 AF
750w PSU

Thanks in advance.
All the best.

i dont know how to navigate that site... but with that amount it comes to 285 usd? might be able to nab a second hand rtx3060ti or 3070

If that site has prices in pesos, then a used 3060Ti seems like the play. 3070 is out of your budget. If this is in USD then what the actual fuck.
Actually, no, seems even a 3060Ti is out of your budget. Hm. Tell you what - find a couple of positions that ARE in your budget, post them here and we can advise then.

First I will go for 3080, 6800 xt if not then go for 3070, 6700 xt. I'm right? or my CPU limits my options (my budget.is apart)

You would be CPU bound with a 3080 or 6800XT. A 6700XT would be my choice since you get to use AMD software which is very granular and feature rich.

A R5-1600 will hold anything a little bit, but it's still beneficial to upgrade the GPU and get a 5600X-5700X3D later when you have the cash.
A budget of ARS 250k doesn't help, though. Looking at Mercado Libre it barely gets you a RX 6600.

I feel like people are making the whole “CPU limit” thing bigger than it should be. I think the old adage of “buy the fastest GPU you can” still very much applies. Higher settings, DSR/VSR for older games and potential headroom for newer games is always helpful. Ultimately, you will always be limited by SOMETHING and making buying decisions strictly on that is silly.

The CPU is a 1600AF.

The intel A380 is bad?

So? He is on a decent platform upgradeability-wise. If he, later down the line, decides that a hypothetical 3080 is REALLY limited by his CPU a Zen 3 option is just a drop-in upgrade.
Not everyone needs to be constantly on a “balanced” system with no bottlenecks to eke out every drop of performance. The guy just wants to play games and, I assume, keep playing them as long as possible without hunting for a new CPU.
All of that is fairly irrelevant though since nothing that would be significantly limited is in his budget.

The intel A380 is bad?
Define “bad”. It is superior to what you have now. It is also in no way a good buy in 2024 for actual gaming - the card is just too weak. If you could go for the A750 or A770 somehow - that would be a better purchase. Otherwise your best go to is, as was mentioned above, something like a 6600 or a 3060 non-Ti (maybe, if that fits into the budget).

If @Dr. Dro is on, he might know where you could get a used 3060 cheap even though he is in Brazil.

In the meantime, I would see if the local PC shops have something used or new in your price range. I would look at the RX6600 or the 3060 first and then the 3050 or 1660 next. The Intel 380 is meh, but the 750 and 770 cards have got better with their drivers over time.

I would also be careful of any online retailer like you linked, as some of those cards you see are more than likely counterfeit. The same goes for the used and refurbished adds you will see, so I would try to stick with the local PC shops and through people you might know. to buy second hand or even new.

Terabyteshop just had it for historic low price yesterday. Sadly it already sold out... My recommendation is to definitely keep an eye on these shops' listings and livestreams

For a ~$300 budget? 4060 or used 3070/3070 Ti.

I doubt you'll get a 3080 in good condition for 250k pesos.

Used GPUs are always risks.

I guess your monitor is a 1920x1080 one ? From what i see on that site, a RX 6600 should be in your budget and it will not be held back as much by that 1600AF(2600):

Oh they are from Argentina, seems their MercadoLibre is the same as ours... 250,000 pesos is quite a small budget but, I'd go with that Sapphire RX 6600 if it's in good condition :toast:

a question, the cheap rx580 is good?

Don't fall into that trap. Virtually all of them are e-waste from former mining rigs. Spend a little more and buy a new card IMHO. RTX 3050 8 GB, 3060 12 GB, 4060 or RX 6600, 6600 XT, 7600. You'll be glad you did, particularly with the warranty and all.

Look at the bare minimum for what you want to play.
Now look at the ideal experience for your monitor.
If your system is using a GT710 it's either because pushing those pixels was originally an afterthought or the purpose was wildly different from any form of modern gaming. There's a better market when it comes to future proofing so I wouldn't look at RTX 2K series.
In current year I would look at RTX 3K/4K series and consider the power leads.
If that doesn't vibe pick RX 6K/7K series and consider your case airflow.
That's about all.

Every few days or weeks there's an explosion of RX 480/580 related questions and they're all garbage mining cards that I've never seen before. I have used a RX 580 Red Devil since peak Ethereum mining (READ:2xMSRP) and have run into issues with DX feature lock and Vulkan instability. Avoid.

Around that budget ~270EUR, you can get something like an RTX 3060, Arc A750, RX 7600, RX 6650 XT or an RX 6600, all of them brand-new.

Personally, I'd get a 3060 12GB if available. If not then the Arc A750 is the way to go. The AMD offerings are good choices as well.

Just converting the currency isn't the way. You must look at the (Argentinian) market OP is buying in.
Without stretching the (ARS 250K) budget the options are either a brand new RX6500XT, an used RX6600 or an used RTX2060.

Of those, a used 6600 seems overall like a best option, provided the OP can find a reasonably reputable seller and ensure that the card isn’t a dud. None of them are GREAT choices necessarily, but I understand that being on a budget and living in a poor market for PC hardware are a thing for people.

Avoid used mining cards. If you haven't noticed, these forums are plagued with threads by people who have issues with those cards.

Edit: Also, it'd be helpful to know which specific model of 750W PSU you have. Not all PSUs are made to the same quality standard.

6750XT or 7600?
