Looking for some advice on a fair value for my PC.

Put it on Craigslist for $150 to start. Or give it to Grandma. It still is fine for E-mail and Facebook. A poor family doing on-line school would be very happy to have it.

The 4790 or the 4790k are both still good choices if you're not a gamer. JMO My new build is going to be the 4790, Gigabyte board, and 32 gig of DDR3, I don't need the 4790k, I don't plan on OC since I'm not a gamer. If people that do not game, are not taking advantage of these older parts, I don't understand that, you don't need the latest and greatest if you're not a gamer or doing some cad work.
4790k is worth the clock speed. I still have two in the house running and doesn't matter if you game or not, they typically can hit 4.6 all core with decent cooling. My girlfriend is running my old one at 4.6 on a Hyper 212 EVO and it never goes past 60c.

They're on an MSI Gaming 3 and MSI MPower, both with 24gb, and working amazingly.

I sold a i7 870/board and 2x 8gb ddr3 sticks for £100. the guy was very happy with it. Tbh it ran any game i threw at it (at the time) with a 4gb 770 in it.

That system would sell very well on ebay, some of the old stuff has ridiculous value now.

Imo stick it on ebay with no reserve, you will be surprised.
