We have a BT Smart Hub (sometimes called the Home Hub 6), which was released in 2016.

The BT Smart Hub Wikipedia article tells me the modem is "VDSL2".

I am looking to replace it with something more capable and future-proof.

I don't want to pay over £100.

I believe these are my options:
Does anyone have any thoughts?

I commend you on being proactive.

But, you will need to keep the BT device only for the modem. You may be able to shut off the DHCP in BT smart hub, then use DHCP from the router someone else recommends.

I am not able to completely swap out my BT Smart Hub for one of these?

I dont think so. The modem turns the internet from your provider into ethernet and wifi your computers and phones can use, then the other way when you upload or post to TPU :D

The devices you listed only deal with ethernet and wifi, not with communicating to your ISP.

Damn.

What kind of device would I need, then?

I want to completely replace it.

I have no experience with VDSL, only cable and fiber, but you may ask your ISP for and up-to-date gateway. Go to their web site to see if they have newer gear available.

Other option is to get a recent stand alone modem and connect the chosen router. You have to have a modem, no getting around it, and your list doesnt include any.
