Well this has been circulating around the web for awhile but people who mainly use PC for games and movies should just ignore every PC monitor out there and grab yourself a 48in LG OLED CX or C1

Its 48 inch bro.

Its also triple the price of a decent ultrawide, while it still has retention risk.

Definitely not fit for every use case in gaming and certainly not fit for most rooms in an average house.

If you play the same game alot or have static UI elements which most games have its already risky for gaming too.

I dont think that would fit in my truck/part-time home.

The OLED CX 48in can be found for around 1000usd and they are not that different to C1 model, or people can wait until black friday and grab the C1 for a grand too.

Just mount these TV on the wall and you can move your desk a little further back, I sit around 70cm away from the TV and the experience has been flawless.

People who are concern with input latency can be put to ease as these LG OLED are more responsive than the best 1440p 240hz IPS panels out there. I wouldn't be worry about burn-in too much either, just reduce brightness and go take rest after a few hours gaming and these OLED screen should last for years :D

Your counter argument basically sums up as: 'Change your entire workspace, go into bad ergonomics and pay not triple, but almost triple price for it

And for what? I have high refresh. I have good blacks. I have no retention risk so i dont need to worry or adapt my playtime or usage for it.

Just because some tuber says so makes no sense whatsoever. OLED is still firmly in the realm of tradeoffs against monitor like qualities. Like you Id love it to be different but lets not delude ourselves because someone wants to genearate clicks.

I feel 120hz refresh a bit low for such a big screen and 3840x2160. 144+ would be easier on the eyes for long periods of gaming.
oh and only hdmi 2.1...

4K 144hz monitors are in the realm of 2000usd+ and they are too small to take advantage of 4K (27in are really meant for 1440p), that and VA/IPS panels hold no candle against OLED in gaming and movies.

Kinda funny I have the LG34GN850-B, which is a much better 34in 1440p UW screen than yours, yet I gladly tossed it away to make room for shiny new OLED TV .

Dunno, I have no need for compensation :) Enjoy it

The point I was making is not that you can go bigger, its pretty obvious you can. The point was: there are different use cases and a TV is still suited for a different one than a desktop, for various reasons, some even unrelated to screen quality.

Your point of view is 'wee I can use OLED now'. Mine is 'the dude paid 3x his LG 34 incher and rebuilt his room just to use OLED, prior to the retention and/or ergonomics issues even kicking in'.

HDMI 2.1 makes such things pain to use. Dunno if that protocol was released in beta state or what, but it doesnt work correctly on way too many things.

I have a big package alrite  , I mean the box that the TV came in is still here LOL.
BTW I paid 1000usd for my LG 34in and 1200usd for the OLED CX only 6 months apart, the OLED TV offer vastly better gaming/movies experience than the best IPS screen out there, VA panel need not apply LMAO.

Here is my setup, the TV is not that big

There are no GPU nor monitor out there atm that support DP 2.0, that leaves HDMI 2.1 as the only choice for 4K 120-144hz HDR

I'd rather be able to have sight and limited neck pain once I reach 50. That's ridiculous.

2200 usd in 6 months for two screen replacements isnt upgrading, its called a condition mate. Not sure why you feel this need to keep epeening. Its not impressive, to me. It looks uncanny.

dunno, I have been sitting in front of the computer for 12h+ a day for the past 6 months since Covid hit my hometown pretty hard, no pain so far :D. Might as well make the best out of home imprisonment for now.

Hi,
Indeed needed some myself on my entertainment center with x99 rig in it using my LG 43" class hdr t.v. I have no wifi/ blue tooth mice or keyboards.
I'm not using it as native resolution though just scaling to it with duplicate off 1080 monitor
Works and looks just fine for movies/ web... I don't game on it though so no telling how that would go lol mouse.. lag.

I think only LG OLED TV has Game mode which reduce input latency, all other TV brand even LG non-OLED have crazy high input latency which are unsuitable for desktop usage.

Hi,
Been working fine for what I've been using it for pretty much desktop usage to me which is watch movies and browser the internet for more movies/ email/ office/...
What is your definition of desktop usage

Already said I'm not gaming on it but the little delay shows how poorly it would be but I figured it was mostly because of the long usb cables more than anything else
It is just a 400.us t.v though nothing special so I don't expect much so working well as it is well that's a bonus 980ti to boot lol

Don't mistake perspectives for salt if you disagree with them ;) Like I said, enjoy it, I really hope you do. There is no jealousy here, I just object to the generalized comment that this is somehow sensible and 'good for monitor use' now. Its really not. And you merely piled on to that statement with your own mentioned caveats in how to use the TV - so deep down, you know there's truth there.

Another thing I object to is your new purchase somehow being a reason to piss over everything you consider 'below' it. That is just straight up rude, so I responded in kind. Again, with a perspective, you may not agree with. Such is life, 'you can move along now' kind of echoes that you merely made this topic to tell the world you bought a new screen, and you were never looking for any sort of discussion or talk about it. You have no intention of listening, all you do is send. They invented Facebook for that though ;)

Again, enjoy.
