Hey Gang,

I have a Dell 27" at 2560x1440 that is a joy to have. I have been holding out an old TN Samsung screen that is finally biting the dust and I'm looking now to finally replace it. I realize another 27 would be great but I'm ok with a screen a tad smaller for now.

So question, what size screen should I be looking for? a 23"? a 23.8? 24? I am trying to match it so when I drag a window from one screen to another the size is the same in the pixel density. Anyone have a smilier setup and can chime in?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I believe any 1920*1080 resolution monitor would work. For me, with my 2560*1600 30" monitor, I would need a 1920*1200 24" inch monitor so that both screens displayed the same amount of desktop space. 2560*1600 30" and 1920*1200 24" screens display the same amount of desktop space pixel wise, but is 6 inches smaller, just like 2560*1440 27" and 1920*1080 24" monitor display the same amount of desktop space, but 3 inches smaller.

I'd say 24". 22" would most likely have better image due to higher DPI, but it would be a bit smaller. If you have a fixed resolution and you're decreasing screen size, you're increasing pixel density (DPI).

20.25 inches would give you the same DPI of 108.79.
