Maximum Load Temperatures?

Based on this thread can anybody tell me again that 75-80 C max load temperature is OK. I am using ATI TOOL and under load reach a stable maximum of just under 80 C with my current overclock. I am running an ATI X850 Pro flashed to X850 XT (16 pipes) and then overclocked to the speed of 520/560 (core/mem).

I have not done the overnight load run, but it seems to pretty stable, just wondering if I am going to see significant reduction in the life of the card. I would be happy if it last at least 3 years, because by then it will be ancient.

So any expert and experienced advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gerg .. that is a high temp but still within specs, try to get a new HSF for it ... this from the voltmod article ..

ATI says 95°C is okay but it may not run clean either. I had an ASUS XT-PE that ran at 80C stone stock in the 3DM01se Nature torture loop. While they say it is okay there is a catch to running hot.
For every 10°C you increase a discrete parts (memory chips, cores, Mosfets, IC's, etc) average operating temperature you cut its lifespan in 1/2 what ever that given lifespan may be. Conversely for every 10°C you lower the average operating temperature you double the parts lifespan. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that a card that runs 60C will have an average life span that is 4 times longer than if the same card runs 80°C.

The above is the reason that a properly modded card can have a longer lifespan that the same card will stock.

^So would it be good to underclock your card so it runs ten degrees cooler just while your cruising the internet or typing a paper, etc.?

Not really, beacuse your not going to be putting high heat out when the card is hardly being used. My card temps hardly change at all from being stock and overclocked when I am not playing games and such.

Dito that. My card came stock at 507/520 and idled at 48C. I now have it overclocked to 550/610 with stock cooling and it still idles at 50C.

That is some overclocking with stock cooling xikut3r. I can feel safe at 520/540 with my Pro, which is the speeds of an XT at at load get 70C, but would need a better HSF for further overclocking I think.

My X850XT is clocked to 546/621 and max temp. recorded in AtiTool was 69,7 Idle 36.
I've got an Zalman cooler.
