Mb or cpu broken?

Yes, my psu. Yes, u-shaped one one side, not on the other.

Ok, big EVGA design failure in my eyes...Should be on both sides square and U-shaped.

???

Isnt it normal to have one end, the end that goes to the psu obviously, different?

That are the CPU power connectors on his PSU:

And that is the CPU power connector on his mainboard:

So the square-shape and the U-shape connectors should be on both sides the same, then it would fit in only one direction. So not possible to get it plugged in like he did. If you have all U-shaped on mainboard side, like he said, then you can plug it wrong like he did.

Sorry, I will post picture: https://ibb.co/njDJ0qb square and u on one side, only u-shaped on other side. Cable is same bith ways, sorry about misunderstanding.

EPS plug has been designed to be that you can connect them in one way only but not evga seems. I saw your pic and plastic around the pin has been brutalized you had put lot of pressure when trying to plug them

Left side is curious..looks really like a design failure in my eyes. I wouldn‘t use this any more, buy a new cable instead.

No. It has no been brutalized, bad picture. I try again https://ibb.co/K625B5Z

This was a bios issue (99% chance), as the box/sticker doesn't mean jack, they get made before the board is even put together let alone got the bios update.
Heck, took me about a week to figure out the 3xxx series needs 1909 build, after getting BSODs all the time and thinking its a hw issue..

Check the pins on the CPU for signs of a short, burning etc.
One or two 4 pin plugs inserted correctly is fine, shove one in the wrong way and magic smoke might happen.

This is the standard for a 4+4 connector.

I've seen a lot just like this.

The second one will go in offset.

The important thing is the yellow wires; all are on top, none are on bottom, so IF you get it wrong, it won't damage anything.

It will be down ~6-8A capacity, but at bootup, that shouldn't be a problem.

You need to upgrade your bios.

I wish you were paying me to work on your stuff, I'd make a killing. :)

Got new MB. MB was broken, CPU worked fine :)
