Hi,
I recently changed my whole build and had to use my USB stick in order to install Windows 11 (with Rufus in case that helps). Everything worked fine besides the fact that I can't seem to format it anymore.

It says that the drive is "write-protected" and I can't do anything about it.

write protection kicking in, check your setup

is this a 1gb USB Stick?
how old this thing? i guess it's in read only mode because it's broken.

i guess it's in read only mode because it's broken.
Or perhaps it has one of those nano-sized write-protect switches that can easily be switched on accidentally without even noticing it....

It's a 16gb Sandisk USB, about 6 years old I'd say, probably even less.
When I created the ISO for Windows, it created the UEFI partition with it and I can't remove it for some reason.

That looks like a partition. A 1mb partition?

This might not work in explorer because of rufus shinanigans.

You could open command prompt as admin and do something like

diskpark

then

list disk

and see what it lists. We could try and wipe it that way.

The 1mb partition isn't listed from what I understand.
I see my 3 SSDs and the 14gb USB stick.

Reformat it using rufus again as a noninstall disk.

Hi,
Then select disk ?
Then list part
It should show all partitions with part

select part 1 if it's listed as 1

delete part override

Lastly if all went well
format fs=fat32 quick

Hi,
Come on man it's tech site supposed to use the tech way

I'm happy that the easier technic worked out, not gonna lie :D.

hahah to be fair, if using disk part is the "hard" way then I fear for this forum.

I'm a lazy bastard. Path of least resistance wins.
Hi,
Yeah, obviously he already had it so might as well try using it again.
Language differences not sure english commands work
