Memory Timings

Ok then, looks like my next comp will be custom built. It will save me some money anyway. If you look at all my system specs, are you sure there is nothing good about the MOBO or the CPU from an OC point of view?

Nothing is wrong with the CPU, if I were you, I would keep all your current components, and buy a compatible high performance motherboard.

This will allow you to OC your current rig.

EDIT: Also, you need to invest in a better power supply. Good source of power is crucial for good overclocks.

I'm not too knowledgable on which Intel chipsets overclock the best, but here are a few picks I see.

Just do some research. For instance, if you want to see reviews of the ASUS P5WD2(Infared has this board btw) then search for "ASUS P5WD2 Review" or "ASUS P5WD2 Overclocking"

The last one had 2 PCI-X slots. And also, do they all support dual core??? And is basically almost all the MSI boards good for OC then?
 
Not all boards by the same manufacturer are equal. Look at my previous edited post on page 3.
 
Well, Ill probably go to the ExtremeOverclocking forums and see if there is a way to OC my board. Thanks for the help, keep adding more suggestions as you wish.

BTW, I looked up P5LP-LE Review and P5LP-LE Overclocking and they came up with all crap.

That's because your board is an OEM HP motherboard like I said. It does not support overclocking for the last time, I will not say this again..

The only method you can overclock with, is by software, and it will not OC very good.

I told you to do some research on some NEW motherboards, like the ones I listed on page 3, but nevermind, you don't listen, and you are a waste of everyone's time. God, I even told you what to put into google, and you screwed that up.

Go to another forum and waste other people's time, but expect the same kind of responses.
 
:laugh: Well, I will not be getting a new computer for a while, but it would have been nice to OC. Oh well, I can still OC my gfx card.

Like I said all you need to invest in is about 100bucks for a motherboard. You don't need a whole computer.

Hmm, this thread has warmed up a bit. (In places :p)

The Asus p5wd2 series are exceptional for overclocking, and as bigboi mensioned, i have one, and you only have to look at my results with the p5wd2-premium w/ i955x chipset. Though you'd be much better off buying the p5wd2-e premium, which has the i975 chipset.

The onboard components like sata/raid controllers on my p5wd2 premium start to crap out at 1200mhz fsb, but using the IDE channels, i've reached 1344mhz (see sig) without problems. After then i was limited by my cpu. You probably won't reach these crazy speeds, but just some info for you to consider. Note that the default fsb is 800mhz ;)

The DFI and Asus motherboards are extremely awsome
Abit - i don't have any experience with, but i hear good things about them
Gigabyte - Keep away, horrible motherboards
MSI - Dunno (how are these guys doing recently bigboi?)

Rip out all the guts of your (YUCK) HP.

Buy a New case, a new motherboard, and a good powersupply.(Go NewEGG!) Then use the HP parts to fill in the gaps.

Then take whats left over of the HP and melt it into something useful like a paperweight, or boat anchor.

ok do this.
while your computer is running pull off the heatsink on the cpu and see how warm it gets before your computer turns off. you might want to do the same with the heatsink on the video card. make sure to take pics and maby even video this process. when done post on this thread.
 
:laugh: Nah, I dont have a boat! But I dont think Ill be ripping my HP apart, it just fits too well. I dont think that there is a Case ALIVE that would put all the little sockets anywhere, plus there is a space for a Personal Media Drive. Ill show you the case.

The door on the right of the case has an S-Video socket, L and R audio sockets, Composite Video socket, Headphone socket, microphone socket, Firewire, and 2 USB ports.

And the left door is for the Personal Media Drive. (Like a portable hard drive)
