Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition: doesn't disappoint with power usage

Metro Exodus standard edition beat up my overclocked 1080ti to no end and now Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition is doing the same thing to my 4090. The 4090 averages about 480 Watts usage (@1440p) with spikes to 528 Watts.
I think I'm going to avoid playing this game until I replace my Rosewill Capstone 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold (which only has two PCIe cables) with my Coolermaster 850 Watt PSU (which has three).

What CPU/system is it in? it will happily make my 3080 pull the whole default 320w if I let it run stock, but I run an undervolt usually with a locked max speed and voltage, no such runaway usage, it's all well below 300w.

480 watts for only a gpu, F**k!!
*And no, I havent yet seen any 4090 review.

What does the Enhanced Edition have over the standard edition.

lower power limit with msi afterburner prob solved.

Lol this was my testing game that made me realise I needed to upgrade my UPS. I ran it for about 2 minutes before my UPS overloaded and shut off.

I have a 9700k running @ 5200/4840/1204 (core/uncore/FCLK). What's funny is neither Metro:Exodus version uses much VRAM, less than 7 GiB at the most (in enhanced edition). This will be one of those games that I won't be able to play during the summer...

286W here and 80-90 FPS with Extreme and RT High at 3440x1440 on a 7900XT.. I just started yesterday :) Good game to test GPUs on indeed. I saw 8.3 GB in vram.

Yes rtx 4090 can be power hog. With overclock and max power target i have seen 4090 peak a 570 watts. Thst was in a bit older game even. It was Wolfenstein youngblood.

Your best friend is undervolting and if nessesery just power target as well. Just under bolting my card to 900 mv and locked gpu clock to 2600 mhz lowered my power consumption with 100 to 150 watts amd if I lower power target as well it gets even lower. Only under volting saves me up to 150 watt with minimal performance loss.

Stock 4090 runs at 1050 mv and 2775 mhz gpu core. That's for my card at least. It may differ from card to card.

But undervolting and combine with power target can drastically lower power consumption.

Yes, this game is extremely GPU heavy. It will easily drive your video card to its power limit. One reason for the huge load is that RT can't be disabled.

My stock MBA 7900XTX is practically pegged at its max 347 W TBP when using highest settings at 4K.

My Gaming OC 4090 only seems to boost to 2745Mhz. max. at least in Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition. I'm getting these power drawn figures at 1440p though!

The Sams Story DLC level seems to be the most power hungry map in Metro Exodus, but when looking over the destroyed city of Vladivostok it's either CPU limited or memory bandwidth limited because then the GPU usage drops like a rock.
