So i have a microphone that i wanted to connect to my computer, and I did and I started using it. I pressed play to listen to the recording i made and the sound came from the microphone... and then the sound is coming from the computer microphone.... can someone please tell me how to fix this. I USED A DIFFERENT MIC AND IT DOES THE SAME THING.

Maybe you are connecting the microphone to the wrong jack? Microphones are input devices. Make sure you are not connecting yours to an output jack, where you usually connect output devices, such as loudspeakers and headphones. Many motherboards have their jacks color-coded. Green jacks are for front speakers, whereas pink ones are where you connect your microphone.

I have a laptop and usually once you connect a microphone to the headphone part it automatically knows it's a microphone. I just got a proffesional micrphone as a gift and I tried connecting it and when I plug it in you can see the audio sound go from 49 to 100 v.v I'm so confused.

I am not very familiar with laptops to be honest. So does your laptop only have the headphones jack? If it had another one, you could try plug your new mic to it, because most probably it would be the jack for mics.
