Yeah i agree... and you guys who dont want the eyecandy, just shut it off... you dont have to use it. You can use the old classic view from 98/Me/2k/Xp if you want... but i like the XP look, and even more the Vista look. And when the Dx10 is ready, it will make the aero much less dependant of hardware. Cause all the visuals will be on the VRam, not system ram. So if you have 128-512mb V-Ram, the Aero will use 0mb Ram...And in games, youre cpu wont be the bottleneck anymore as it is now, it will work around the gpu, not the otherway around as it is currently!!!

So stop complaining, and start burning some cash...:)

I do agree, advancing in technology is important and just like anything there are always problems at the start.

Yes Microsoft are often seen as the bad guy but if it wasn't them top of the market, someone else would be doing the same thing. Change is inevitable and technology i aswell as everything else can only progress through change and innovation. Not everything will always work perfectly but thats human nature, we don't get everything right. Making some mistakes are also important for better learning how to improve and create better technologies.

also good move with p4 805, fantastic overclocker.

VISTA will no doubt, do very well (imo @ least)

Fellas,

I think (like all things Microsoft), personally, that Windows Vista will do well!

(Just as have all other forms of Windows NT-based OS' preceeding it).

:)

* It's just how it's been for more than 14 years now, & I don't see history about to pull a "sudden turn about" against Microsoft products, in favor of other offerings from other software oems/publishing houses...

Microsoft just WAY too "entrenched" @ both the home & work level to just be 'ousted', so that works in their favor & has for decades now...

That works for MS, as does the volume of commercially supported high-quality driver production in favor of Windows (it takes the lead there, & always has - good DDK is why) & also the sheer volume of high-quality softwares around Windows for most ANY purpose you can think of, & for any hardware for the most used CPU platform there is (x86).

See, from what I have seen in this field for a VERY long time now?

People tend to stick with what they know, & what works for them!

That combo... it's hard to beat!

(Yes, even with "FREE BEER" Os, which sense says SHOULD have taken MS down years ago, but haven't to date!)

APK

P.S.=> All OS out there do a decent job, some better than others @ particular tasks (vertical industry ones in particular), but Windows?

It's just SO damn "all-around", versatile/ubiquitous, that it's hard to deny!

Plus, it's just as secure as any, IF you know what you're doing (@ both a HOME desktop/laptop level AND in industrial/workplace environs as well)... apk

With Aero turned on?
If I ever get windows Vista, Aero is the first thing I'm turning off :p. It's just a really shiny video card killer. I'm also guessing that someone will find some sort of DX10 emulator for Windows XP and then nobody will upgrade and Bill Gates will have to build a new OS from scratch :D. I'll be a very happy XP user, and if I have to change OS's any time soon, it's to windows XP 64 bit or Linux :).
