Welcome Pilots!

This thread is to talk about and share information on Microsofts new Flight Simulator Game. "Microsoft Flight". After Flight Simulator X Microsoft decided to stop with the series and so the Team that made it were done. Now its come back, but a whole new team is making the game, and so far its looks VERY VERY VERY good. More optimized, DX10/11, etc.

System Requirements
Amongst the most popular questions the Flight team has been asked via e-mails to msflight@microsoft.com are those about the release date and game performance. While we aren’t quite ready to talk about a release date, we did want to share a bit about our approach towards performance and hardware.

Performance optimization has been a core focus of our development from an early stage. To achieve this, we constantly monitored game performance metrics across a range of hardware configurations and reacted each time we saw a new feature or code change that caused a dip below the established thresholds. The end result is that Flight looks fantastic on a brand new PC, but because of the emphasis on performance throughout development, it also runs well on older desktops and budget laptops.

We’ve found the game runs well on low graphics settings with hardware meeting the following specifications:
•CPU: Dual Core 2.0 GHz
•GPU: 256 MB card capable of shader 3.0 (DX 9.0c compliant)
•HD: 10 GB Hard Drive space
•OS: WinXP SP3
•RAM: 2.0GB

It was also one of our goals to ensure that the game can run well with high settings on hardware that is attainable today. Based on our testing of core scenarios, the game runs smoothly on high graphics settings with the following hardware specifications:
•CPU: Intel® Core™ i7 960 @ 3.20GHz, AMD® Phenom™ II X6 1100T 3.3 GHz or better
•GPU: ATI Radeon™ HD 5870, NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 or better
•HD: 10 GB Hard Drive space
•OS: Windows 7 64-bit
•RAM: 6GB

i cant find the beta sigh up anywhere

this game looks intense

What would you rate as the best flight game for air fighting?

What you rate as the best flight game for air fighting? I've been playing Wings of Prey and it's a lot of fun. Any suggestions? I have LockOn and can't seem to get into it. Too many hoops to jump thru for my taste. I like MS FS X but I think WOP is my favorite for just fun.

For current I guess I would say the Hawx's, but I wouldn't consider them Sim fighting.

Il2 Sturmovik is my favorite.

Here are some screen shots of menus and gameplay:

i got the beta now it looks really nice but its just a acarde game now that the bad thing now

What's the bet they release this first, then a bit down the line release Microsoft Flight Pro (paid), which is more true to the original simulation heart of the game?

I'd probably buy it, I'm a bit of a sucker for MS Flight Sim games. It was the first ever 3D 'game' I played on a PC.

Hoping to find that out later tonight when i have more time to play it. Has anyone noticed it is hard as hell to make anything out when doing some night flying? I turned the lights on it I can see the cockpit, that's it!

Have you ever played a Flight game? its always hard at night. Lights in the cockpit and then lights at the airports are the only thing you should be looking for.

How did you get the beta?

I signed up for it at connect.microsoft but haven't gotten anything

Im thinking about picking up FSX. Is it as good as FS 5.1?

Its extremely CPU limited. It likes a lot of CPU speed. 4.0ghz or higher and it really likes Intel and Nvidia setups

Is it multi threaded?

See my specs. I should be fine given this is a 2006 title.
