MICROSOFT HAS CONFIRMED that Windows 10 is being downloaded to computers whether or not users have opted in.

I got 6 GB in my -BT and i didn't ask for it at all. My 120 GB bambus lap top was to stay Win 7.

That's..odd.Good thing I never do any updates.
Been there,done that.They update your machine until you need a fresh install to fix it.

Thank goodness I don't do automatic updates on my W8.1 machines or my W7 machine. I set to notify me there are updates, then I pick the updates to install.

This is NOT COOL Micro$hit!!

Well I have removed the GWX notification update, I don't see any windows 10 installation files yet, hope it stays that way.

Also I don't have set the updates to automatic.

I looked closer at C:\$Windows.~WS (>10 GiB) and it is definitely Windows 10. I'm not sure what is in the first directory...perhaps a preparation utility...but in C:\$Windows.~WS\Windows is definitely the Windows 10 ISOs, both x86 and x64. I don't know if it is Home, Pro, or both.

There's two problems with this picture:
a) the only reason why Microsoft would download Windows 10 to an Active Directory domain controller is to update clients connected to it (e.g. download from local server instead of Microsoft server)
b) "a" makes no sense because those clients shouldn't be eligible for the free Windows 10 upgrade because they're most likely corporate licensed which is exempt from the free upgrade.
c) GWX shouldn't even be an option/available on Windows Server because it only offers a downgrade ($600 operating system to $140 operating system).

Considering most if not the majority of updates they push out are security ones, that's pretty dang risky.

Just checked and my server (2012 R2) has this as well. Have you tried deleting it yet to see if it repopulates? My Windows.~WS is 5.76GB.

They do this, yet although I am eligible and opted in, but I still am not being prompted to upgrade. I could just download the update and do it that way, and I have decided not to. It is just funny that they are downloading things but not upgrading eligible opted in systems.

Very interesting, because I put together a W10 test machine (because I didn't want to take a chance with main rig), quickly had GWX icon show up, and 24 hours after clicking that I want W10 it was downloading. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the deployment.

Honestly I'm surprised how well it has gone so far. For most people it seems to just work, overall anyway. Not the chaos it could so easily have been.

But this is kinda crappy tho. I'm just glad I don't install upgrades automatically.

It is not nice what Microsoft is doing, maybe I don't want their crap but anyway they do the trick to send it to me via Updates, they have given us the Choice to update to win 10 or not, At this point it's up to us to decide what next.

I had it GWX on 5 machines eligible and opted in. In the first week 1 of them got windows 10. After the 2nd week I manually upgraded windows 10 on 3 more. Windows 10 is still not ready it says for the main rig. I don't plan on upgrading it for awhile anyway, but funny. I even have the windows 10 files that this thread describes.

Maybe GWX is checking for driver updates and it won't prompt to install until all drivers are updated for Windows 10. Let me guess: the only one that actually updated via GWX was a laptop?
