Hmmm, not too bad at all. But personally, if I had to choose between the two, I think I would still choose the iPod, due to it's bigger aftermarket support. 80GB is the same price for either.

Yeah, same here Fuse-Wire. Music-wise I carry about 1GB worth of music. But you are forgetting that for many owning a Zune, an iPod, or an iPhone is not about actually playing music or making phone calls. It’s about owning a particular status items. It's a "She\He\They have it and I must have it too!" mentality.

I have one of those video/MP3/Game/10MP-Camera things I got for pretty cheap (relatively speaking). It doesn’t have an Apple or Microsoft logo, but it does everything I want it to and I didn’t have to sell my kidney to own one.

Bleh. It just looks like they tried to go the same route as Apple did when they made the 1G nano.

What, Microsoft following in Apple's footsteps? Say it ain't so!

It seems to me that the current iPod's (excluding touch) GUI still doesn't match Zune 1. It's cute how iPod shows the CD cover on half of the background tho... This new Zune looks pretty cool. It has everything the current iPod has and more.

My thoughts on iPod touch: only a retard would buy one. Just get an iPhone; it's where all PMPs are headed anyway. Plus, they're the same price......

One of the main things I like about this is the fact they're allowing Zune 1 owners to upgrade the firmware to the new version with all the changes. Something Apple will probably never do.

EDIT:
Hmmm or I could get this nice cheap player for sandisk and get 16gb for 200 dollars.
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1364)-SanDisk_Sansa_View_MP3_Players.aspx

Already being sold on Amazon.
My friend had one of those, and he absolutely hated it! Had to RMA 3 times, and then just got a refund. He instead bought one of those COWON D2's and it's pretty slick. I don't like touch interfaces, but it's still pretty cool.

Podcast is a universal term now I presume. Considering that other players can use podcasts, I don't see the big deal when MS uses the term. And if you haven't seen the UI video showing off the squircle, its pretty slick! It has touch AND buttons. Squircle beats the touch-wheel hands down! Moving your thumb in a circle is dumb, especially when it is as inaccurate as the iPod is. Zune2 ftw!
