Windows is a great OS, but it has copied some things from Linux
Hmmm, you mean like how Linux copied things like kernel mode threads, so it could implement SMP properly?
and both influence each other, it's better for comsumers if good ideas are used in both operating systems.
They ALL tend to "imitate & improve upon" in many capacities, as users demand it... this has been going on in this & OTHER FIELDS, since time immemorial.
Linux HAS to become Windows in order to be successful... just like DOS folks said about Macs & what became of MS' Os'? More "maclike" as each year passed... same is happening on Linux imo, vs. Windows!
Let M$ try and sue if they want but my opinion of them will be severly dented, they're just doing it because they're worried that more people are giving Linux a chance IMO.
Steve Ballmer... he may be a decently skilled businessman (not saying much imo @ least, because it doesn't take much to be on the "inside track" if you are a polished asskisser & schmoozer w/ plenty of bread - nor does it take a massive amount of intelligence to "buy it for a buck & sell it for 2"), but he is NOT a skilled programmer or systems administrator, imo @ least.
I don't like it when this guy makes statements, period!
Mainly because personally imo, w/ out being able to understand this stuff @ a "nuts & bolts level", you really shouldn't be speaking of it, period... & thus, can you tell I don't have a tremendous amount of respect for this guy? I don't think he has that level of understanding & AT THOSE SPECIFIC LEVELS...
I just don't see him as being as effective as Bill Gates or Jim Allchin was/were in leading MS to continued success...
Just based on intelligence alone, let alone technical knowledge of this OS & its API as well as administrating it.
It's somewhat "dangerous" letting this guy speak for MS imo, because he doesn't have the necessary technical background AND because Ms IS a 'technical company' @ their foundations because of their product lines: Technical in nature, to-the-max.
