Microsoft Windows 8.1 Goes RTM

For anyone that doesn't know. In Windows 8, to shut down you have to go to the charms bar, settings then the power button to shut down.

Now with Windows 8.1, you just right click on the "new" start button and hit shutdown.

Gee, look. It appears that a certain someone may also have some concerns about the current state of the Search feature?

Maybe you don't know the name of your program or, perhaps indexing is turned off?

:shadedshu

That isn't an issue. Anything I search for always comes up. The improved search I mention is the way it organizes the search results and the fact that it searches the internet too.

That is all.

:D
Um, why? Is there some benefit to it that you know and aren't sharing with me?

Actually I have been using Win 8 on my laptop for awhile now and have gotten really used to it. :toast:

For some reason on my res my charms bar icons are not centered any one know how to fix this also this my help out people needing net frame works 3.5

The .NET Framework package is available under the “sources\sxs” folder of the Windows installation media and if you try to find the framework installer, you will not get it there. You have to use the DISM tool for that.

To install the .NET Framework from the Windows installation media, open the “Command Prompt” in administrator mode and provide the following command:

DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:f:\sources\sxs

I'd like to point out that I never said anything negative towards 8. I just said that it does not work well with my (and many others') working style, at least on my non-touch desktop. No amount of adjustment made it equal to or better than the start menu for me.

Criticism is not hate. They are not interchangeable. Criticism is how you get companies to improve products.

Now, I agree, people running around exclaiming "Win8 is shit" is unacceptable. It's not as if it's a slow, unstable, unusable OS. It's a solid OS, but it does leave a bit to be desired for many of us.

Quite simply, Win8 would be much improved for many, many people, if they allowed us to choose between the start screen and the start menu. I don't really think that's an unreasonable request.

Windows 8.1 is out on Technet for those who have a Technet account.
