The loot boxes are the least of the problems. The fact Publisher / Game Dev are profiting off a DLC thats uses a dead employee as an add on character where it was hyped up to raise money for charity ie said devs family. Only to find out its limited to a set % and only applies to certain regions. IE they literally decided to profit of a dead man. Kinda rubs me the wrong way. https://www.polygon.com/2017/9/7/16266046/shadow-of-war-dlc-forgey-where-is-the-money-going

I will wait till its a $10 offering on sale. Got the first one for $5 on a sale.
They deserve an image blurb next to the entry 'money grubbing scum' for a sick stunt like that.

That goes without saying, but in this case content is actually gated behind loot boxes. According to Ars:
That's how free to play MMOs I've tried have done it. You can get everything without dumping money into the game but you'll have to spend an inane amount of time if you don't throw money at it.

Sad to see it happening in a retail release.

Which is why the practice need to be called out.
And on the MMO subject, Path of Exile does it right: free client, supported by mtx, but mtx only grant visual effects or account features - no gameplay advantage whatsoever.

1060 (980) runs this game at 55fps FHD High. Since 980 is roughly 20% faster than 970, 970 would be doing about 45fps under the same settings. So lowering to FHD Medium, I believe your box should be able to handle at 60fps.

Glad to see they reversed their decision but too little to late. Rubbed me the wrong way something of that nature never should have happened in the first place.

As much as i rag on Developers for fucking things up 9/10 The mistakes happen due to publisher pressure. In this case WB were dick heads I have many friends that work in or used to work in the industry. The hours they work are ridiculous. Nearly mandatory overtime via "Crunch Time" while not as bad as it was 10+ years ago its still an industry wide problem when your expected to work 80 hours + a week with no down time to rush a broken product out the door. In some cases that Crunch Time can last months. EA was sued over it years ago because they took it so far as to be absurd. So with that said considering how far some devs need to bend to make a publisher happy = I am not impressed. They made a great game. Publisher basically had a PR nightmare because they wanted to be money grubbing assholes after a developer for the game died. Ie only $3.50 out of $5.0 from only 44 states was going to be given to the family. The other 6 states and the rest of the world at large they got to take those profits and run (originally) as VSG posted they seem to have reversed that. Still the fact they thought that was a good idea was horse shit. Basically they used Charity as a way to sell DLC got called out on it and had to reverse course. If they just hand't been dicks i would have probably bought it. But yeah that left me a bit salty.

This makes me want to pirate it, and then negatively review the game.

FWIW it looks like they just reused the same engine, I see little to no improvements visually. Meh.

Everything is great on Techpowerup, all the reviews are detailed except when in comes to FPS, you guys still measure the Avg FPS. Come on guys it's 2017 and 0.1% and 1% lows are more important than Avg. FPS and Minimum FPS.
Do 0.1% and 1% in your gaming tests, don't make only good reviews, do amazing reviews.

Path Of Exile requires insane amounts of time to get any decent drops. The fact that there is trading makes this game pay to win as well. Mulefactory for starters...

So dramatic, makes sense to pirate it, play it and not like it LOL.

Hey can you test the game with RX VEGA 64 liquid cooled with HBCC enabled?

W1zzard only tests reference cards in these types of game reviews. Otherwise he'd also have to throw in water cooled gpu's across the board to make it fair. Although the LCS is water cooled by reference, it sort of defeats the purpose.

PCGH tested that along with ComputerBase:

http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Mitte...erde-Schatten-des-Krieges-Benchmarks-1240756/

https://www.computerbase.de/2017-10...3/#abschnitt_update_1_radeon_rx_vega_mit_hbcc

They also mention a discrepancy in performance on Vega using the 17.10.1 drivers, seems the game doesn't actually enable all the Ultra settings which means the boost was bigger than it appeared (ComputerBase saw none at all with those drivers).

The game looks amazing to me but I didn't play the first one. I have a good 15-20 hours into it so if I had paid for it I would have gotten my money's worth. It came with my 1080ti purchase though. I'll most likely get the DLC expansion when I % this game.

I have both this one and the previous game. There are differences between the 2 games. The first game actually looks better at 1440P than the 2nd game (to me). The first game was large in terms of GB but the 2nd is 65GB!!! to download. That is more than both Total War War hammer games combined. I will say that the game is better than the first one because of the new mechanics. The loot boxes are hit and miss. I got a gold loot box for the game and it gave me 3 Epic orcs but one turned on me after 2 bodyguard calls and the others I lost after I had to reset Windows the other day. The game is also easier than the first one. It does not take long to level up and get the extra moves. The battles are not as hard as before and Caragors are much easier to defeat too. The one reason I pre-ordered this game though is the fact that you can raise an army. This part of the game does remind me of Viking Battle for Asgard but with much higher FPS.
