I guess someone must be an Nvidia engineer to know how much misleading that is, or if it is very close to the truth. Considering that Nvidia was promising async support through drivers for Maxwell based cards and that other technologies like Ansel are software based, I would say that Pascal is pretty much a Maxwell shrink, with updated drivers and a nice touch of marketing. There are going to be some optimizations to the design, especially the part where it let's the gpu clock higher, but other than that I doubt. It's similar yes, but not the same by any means. I feel this statement is very misleading.

In software or in hardware? And don't tell me what Nvidia's slides say. Look, this is the wrong thread to play ping pong about Pascal's support or "support" of async. So, let's just stop here andAsync is supported in Pascal. Maxwell cards are where it is not. It just provides no gains on Pascal because pascal is a small, serial, efficient architecture, whereas on Maxwell, enabling it actaully HURTS performance.
