After 4 years of intense use with alot of Multiplayer games. I noticed my mouse start to show some age not only aesthetically but also functionally.

Mouse no longer precise, buttons no longer responsive very bad aiming on games.

I love the Deathadder from Razer so i decided to buy another one the new version.

I want to share with you guys the difference.

4 years mouse vs new mouse that i received this morning.

they do wear out pretty thoroughly. One thing i have gotten in the habit of doing is, during the first year of use, i keep an eye on wear, and if i start to see premature break down of any functions, like scroll wheel, switches etc, i RMA the mouse to make use of the Warranty while i still can. Works like a charm, and leaves me with a nice new mouse :) .

If you find yourself NOT able to replace due to any reason ($$ or whatever) I find a good tear down (only out of warranty & with experience) can be ?REALLY useful @ times. I had a sensei that was showing age after about 2-3 years , but it was out of warranty, so i broke it down, cleaned the sensor, switches, etc and assembled it, and it performed like new again (you can even go beyond if your really good and replace switches too). I fidn that often, what You find inside your Keyboard (doritos, hair, dust etc) often ends up inside your mouse too.

enjoy the new mouse.

I have that mouse mat. I find it is half the problem with mouse movement. It picks up skin, crumbs, dust etc. I've taken it to the kitchen a few times and gently removed mouse 'gunk' from its surface.
I had a Death adder once but unfortunately it gave up the ghost. I'm a Logitech fan tbh but it's all very much personal.
Happy fragging with the new mouse.

Just replaced my mouse not that long ago because the left click was failing. I could have taken it apart and built up the contact area with some Gorilla glue followed by some precise filing but I didn't bother. Also, the process of fixing it includes removing the slide pads which never stay when replaced. It only cost me $20 years ago and I really wanted more buttons.

Using a Performance MX mouse in the interim between new and old mice made me rage.

Ive have always been really lucky in that area, i have literally never had a single one not stick back on just like it was before repair. I know how lucky that is too. I use a razor blade, or utility blade to remove them, and i handle them without touching the adhesive too. personally ill clean them(mice), but i lack the know how to repair them....or possibly the patience, or will to repair them ;)

SS replaced my SS mouse over 2 years out of warranty, although i believe they did it becouse it was a RMA from them and ended up being the same issue.

Just be careful cleaning the lens as most are made of plastic and stuff like isopropyl will damage the plastic.

An interesting difference I noticed was the old mouse was rated up to 100mA while the new consumed 2 1/2 times more power, up to 250mA. So much for newer models being more efficient!

Ive had 3 deathadders and each one of them after about a year, the left click turned into a double click when pressing once. Was kinda nice in FPS games but just down right annoying for anything else youre trying to do. I went back to logitech.

They do make replacement pads, which will at least help with gliding. Maybe a few blasts of compressed air in the optical sensor?

Looks like we all have the same mouse mat. And yes, it's terrible but I've had it for close to seven years at least
