I just broke slot 1, PCIe 16x slot on my trusty MSI B550-A. Currently using the 2nd PCIe slot for my current gpu, the system is still super stable.. Im looking to replace the same motherboard or get something abit more?
Apps:
Blender 4,
Unreal Engine 5,
C+,
Python,
Doom 2016,
Fallout New Vegas

System:
Windows 11
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Corsair 64GB 3200/cl16
MSI B550-A Pro
MSI GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, (will be replacing soon)
Samsung 980 Pro 2TB
Samsung 980 Pro 4TB

Will be adding , (whats brand is great for the longterm, heavy reads)
40-50TB(4 3.5 hdd's) uabable raid, Windows raid or motherboard raid

Where's a great spot for hardware, Ive been looking at cdw dot com and bhphotovideo dot com, anyone used these stores? Im done using amazon and newegg.

I know upgrading to AM5 might be smarter atm, but Im wanting two systems, one for current work flow, and this system will end up being a sever/render node.

thoughts?

Only advantage to the Tomahawk is the 2.5 G LAN and the heatsink on the second M.2.

If you don't care about that (or RGB), the A-Pro will do you.

How did you mange that? I have the B550A Pro also and beside the missing SPDIF output i have zero issues. Was also looking at a MSI x570 gaming edge just for the SPDIF but i hate the chipset fan and no sure anymore.

Been using B&H for at least two decades now, never had an issue. Selection can be a bit limited but I usually shop there unless the price difference is more than ~10%... sometimes even then.

Also started using Bestbuy again (e-tail and local) after Newegg went to shit about 7-8 years ago.

Not sure where you are, but check if there's a Microcenter around you.

Salt Lake City Utah, will be moving to South Utah this fall.

Also looking for a mid to full tower case(thats not heavy but built well) to fit a vertical 360 rad with Res/pump?
