MW3 - Grossed $1 Billion in 16 days.

Sad reality. In fact if theyd release mw4 6 months later the same with slow mo door breaches and ac130 killstreak, itd still sell $$$

You must know that in some places the game is the most expensive on Steam,is 59,99 € here, when other new releases are 49,99€ all of them.

pre-order for months + 16 days doesn't = 16 days lol.

still a nice milestone.

that 1 Billion does not include my $60, thank you very much  :D

PC gamers made up less than three percent of the total sales. So if you're in the community and you feel marginalized, it may be because you are, in a financial sense, in the margins.

I am proud to say that that 1 billion does not include my money as well.

I do know a friend that bought it on accident for trying to make someone bid higher on it. Serves him right. Turns out people wouldn't buy it if they were charged just a $1 more lol.

No $ from me for BO or MW3. All the other COD's though.

Well, 16 days since release date. No matter how you guys look at it, I think that is insane that one game can make a billion dollars within a month of being on sale. That's crazyness.

he's a liar, he bought it on purpose and that is a stupid excuse ;)

And your surprised at this? How many times have they nerf weapons and made other changes for example? The answer is so simple...If you give the people what they want and don't make drastic changes after release then people will buy it. Yup, that means a game that offers no real graphical improvements, similar maps, low player count, etc.

I still wonder what would have happened if the game was a full 32+ player count though.

How disappointing ... I bet in the 2050 or whenever the population will be 10 billion people their umpty-umpth game will grab 1 billion bucks an hour.

i will buy it eventually, but not at $59. i don't understand all the hate at the COD series.

yes the modern warfare series has just been new maps and new single player missions. but i have enjoyed them all so far. the only one i bought at launch price was MW1 and got it on launch day.

One billion dollars = roughly 16.5 million units.

Its not the hate that its CoD really, its the fact for atleast myself that they release the same carbon copy game EVERY year. If they spent more then a year in development and spaced it out ever 2 to 3 years it would allow gamers to actually play the game, be better for the community, and they would be able to invest in new things for the franchise.

When i say better for the community i mean that it would make it so that people would by the game the year it comes out because they would have to wait 2 or 3 years for the next iteration. Right now they come out every year and people or at least me if i miss out this year then theres always next. Not sure if thats a good explanation. If they waited they could bring new things in like i said, but not nessarily new gameplay because they might result in loss of fanbase. However, they could invest in a new up to date engine that would allow for better animations, graphics, physics, etc. They also need to look into balancing aspects because the only game form the CoD multiplayer formula that was balanced well was CoD4. Now i don't think that even comes into mind during development.

Jesus that jumped. Last i heard it has total 9.6mil units and BF3 had 8 mil. jesus!

? the last one did too, not such an insane figure when it's predicessor and it's predecessor's predecessor hit that mark very early on as well.

a billion dollars seems like alot until you figure out that walmart gross's that much in a single day.

I give up playing cod games after cod 4,
There where all crap after that game,

hmm... everyone keeps saying "its the same game with different maps". I dont think it is, it feels so different to me, i hate it! Its hard to explain but the game just feels "off" to me and the maps are horrible. I have played and enjoyed all the other CoD games except this one i cant stand it i wish i had never bought it. :shadedshu

Same. I completely lost interest in the franchise after playing COD4. Kind of ironic how the original COD was a shameless clone of Medal of Honor. Now MoH is pretty much dead and COD thrives in consoleland.

I still remember the days when I used to come home from work at 7-8am and game until at least 10am before hitting the sack. when not working i would play all night. I musta put in at least a good 3-5k hours playing united offensive. the mods and custom maps that eventually made it out for the game kept be going back for more...and also Base Assault. who can forgot roaming around the hills in a giant elephant tank.

maybe because Infinity ward/sledgehammer still believe the earth is flat. There is no map variety its just a bunch of building and corners to lay and camp in. And it may feel different because they fucked up the running animation; the guy runs like he is drunk now.

Ya its definately different. I mean i can go play MW2 and it just feels "right" but i go and play MW3 and it feels "wrong". It just dont understand how anyone can say its the same game.
