My gpu usage is always high even in idle mode. (RTX 4090)

I believe it's a nvidia driver bug they are working on. No, your card is not actually being used that hard.

I see, so it's only fake usage?.
what about using the cpu gpu for simple tasks like dwm?

526.47 Open Issues:
  • Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) service may report higher GPU usage on some RTX 30-series configurations [3830387] -> Workaround: disable Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling from the Windows Settings
GeForce Hotfix display driver version 526.61
  • GPU stuck in P0 state after exiting certain games. [3846389]

I don't understand what you mean by cpu gpu issue, can you elaborate/explain a bit more?

Yes, my "Intel(R) UHD Graphics" have 0% usage, nothing use it, everything is on my gpu
There are no internal switch in a desktop motherboard. So you'd have to use a separate monitor.

If you really want to overcomplicate things you could use another input on your monitor (assuming you have more available) and switch between them for desktop/gaming duties. But that would get old real fast imho.

That's normal. You use your gpu or integrated graphics card, but not both. The way it is running is optimal (the gpu has more power so it is chosen).

This. The same happens to me it’s the nvidia driver and the windows task scheduler. The issue is that task scheduler isn’t taking into consideration relative usage.

So when we are in idle state say 210mhz and watching a video or 3d effects (desktop display manager) task manager shows that as heavy load because the GPU is at like 200mhz.

Nvidia plans to fix this but there is a horrid driver that may help (it didn’t in my case)

Edit in my phone didn’t see this was taken care of

I disagree that your card is not actually being used due this bug as stated above. Set the energy mode to normal instead of performance in the nvidia control panel (reboot your pc). You will notice your idle gpu temp will drop by 15-20c while idle. Also take a look at the taskmanager and you see the gpu will settle after activity at around 5%. This will also have affect on your gaming performance and temps. The Nvidia driver releases after version 517.48 all have this same issue.

It's already on normal mod
